A good friend of ours just went through an ordeal with breast cancer. The incidence of breast cancer has increased to 1 in 8 women, with 4,000 new cases weekly. You might ask, could there be a preventive measure which is safe, cheap and widely available that has been overlooked?

The answer is YES, and it’s the essential mineral, Iodine, which was added to table salt in 1924 as part of a national program to prevent Goiter. Goiter is a form of thyroid enlargement caused by iodine deficiency.

Our Diet is Iodine Deficient

Iodized salt is the major source of dietary iodine for Americans. Yet, many of us have been told by the doctor to avoid salt, because salt causes high blood pressure. Those following this advice will have very little dietary iodine. In fact, we have a generalized iodine deficiency in our population. Currently 15% of the US adult female population is classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as iodine deficient. (9) Although all processed foods contain a large quantity of salt, none of this added salt is iodized. There is no iodine added.

The RDA for Iodine is too Low for Optimal Health

According to Guy Abraham MD, our dietary intake of Iodine is too low. This was set at 150 mcg per day as the government recommended daily allowance (RDA). Dr. Guy Abraham recommends higher Iodine intake of 12.5 mg per day, corresponding to the Japanese daily Iodine intake. Higher dietary Iodine explains why the Japanese have the lowest rates for cancer of the breast, prostate and thyroid.

How Safe is Iodine Supplementation?

Iodine is the only trace element that can be ingested safely in amounts up to 100,000 times the RDA. Potassium iodide has been prescribed safely to large numbers pulmonary (COPD) patients in amounts of up to 6 grams per day for several years. This is a well known treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) which helps mobilize lung secretions. (18)

FDA recommends 165 mg of Iodine

The FDA has officially stated that Iodine supplementation is safe and actually recommends 165 mg of Iodine for adults in case of Radiation Emergency to protect the population from thyroid cancer. (17)

Iodine Allergy?

“Iodine allergy” is a misnomer since this name applies to allergy to iodinated radiographic contrast agents, and not to elemental iodine which is quite different chemically. (10) Elemental Iodine is an essential mineral and required for health. Deficiency of Iodine in the developing embryo causes cretinism, and deficiency in the developing child causes goiter. As such, any developing embryo that is allergic to iodine would not survive more than a few weeks, and therefore there can be no allergy to elemental iodine, same as there can not be an allergy to oxygen or water, also essential nutrients.

Iodine, a well known topical antiseptic and antimicrobial agent, also directly kills cancer cells and serves as the key player in our body’s surveillance system for removing abnormal pre-cancer cells. There is considerable medical research to support this statement.

Iodine Deficiency Causes Fibrocystic Breast Disease, Breast Cancer and Thyroid Cancer – Dr. Eskin

Dr. B.A. Eskin published 80 papers over 30 years researching iodine and breast cancer, and he reports that iodine deficiency causes breast cancer and thyroid cancer in humans and animals.(11)(12) Iodine deficiency is also known to cause a pre-cancerous condition called fibrocystic breast disease. (13) Ghent published a paper in 1993 which showed iodine supplementation works quite well to reverse and resolve fibrocystic changes of the breast, and this is again the subject of a current clinical study.(14)(15)

Despite its obvious potential, not much has been done with Iodine treatment over the past 40 years in the United States. Since iodine isn’t patentable and is therefore unlikely to be profitable to market, there is no money to fund studies for “FDA approval”. However, FDA approval is not required since Iodine is already an additive to table salt at the supermarket.

Iodine Deficiency – Thyroid Cysts and Nodules

As an interventional radiologist working in the hospital for 25 years, a large part of my job was evaluating thyroid abnormalities, nodules, and cysts with ultrasound, radionuclide scans, and needle biopsy. Although it was obvious these common thyroid abnormalities were due to iodine deficiency, I often wondered why none of the patients ever received iodine supplementation. The obvious answer is they should have been. The protective role of iodine is ignored by mainstream medicine.

Iodine Deficiency – Fibrocystic Breast Disease

Part of my day as a radiologist was spent reading mammograms and breast ultrasound studies. Fibrocystic breast disease was quite common, and these women would return for needle aspiration procedure of the many breast cysts, and needle biopsy of the benign solid nodules. Many of these ladies returned multiple times for the procedures because the medical system had no useful treatment to offer them. We now know there is a very useful medical treatment. Iodine supplementation not only resolves breast cysts and fibrocystic breast disease, it also resolves ovarian cysts and thyroid cysts. Actually Iodine supplementation has always been available, but again this is ignored by mainstream medicine, and hospital based physicians are unaware of it.

Goiter is Caused by Iodine Deficiency

Iodine deficiency is the direct cause of Goiter, as well as enlargement of the thyroid gland with thyroid nodules and cysts. In severe cases, the enlargement can be massive. See image at left courtesy of wikimedia commons showing goiter in the neck caused by Iodine Deficiency. The thyroid nodule epidemic is also caused by Iodine Deficiency.

Which Iodine Supplement to Use?

There are many Iodine supplements. Lugol’s Solution has been used for many years. We use Iodoral from Optimox (16), a company owned by Guy Abraham, a former professor of obstetrics and gynecology at UCLA who started “The Iodine Project” in 1997, and engaged two family practice physicians, Jorge Flechas and David Brownstein to carry out clinical studies of the hypothesis that the body needs 12.5 mg of iodine a day.

More than 4,000 patients in this project consumed Iodine supplements from 12 to 50 mg per day, and in those with diabetes, up to 100 mg a day. They reported their findings that Iodine does indeed reverse fibrocystic disease; diabetic patients require less insulin; hypothyroid patients require less thyroid medication; symptoms of fibromyalgia resolve, and patients with migraine headaches stop having them.

The Nobel laureate Dr. Albert Szent Györgi (1893 – 1986), the physician who discovered vitamin C, used Iodine freely in his medical practice. The standard dose of potassium iodide given in those days was 1 gram, which contains 770 mg of iodine. Dr. Albert Szent Györgi writes:

“When I was a medical student, iodine in the form of KI (Potassium Iodide) was the universal medicine. Nobody knew what it did, but it did something and did something good. We students used to sum up the situation in this little rhyme: If ye don’t know where, what, and why Prescribe ye then K and I”

Iodoral is available without a prescription as a nutritional supplement from Amazon or from VRP (Vitamin Research Products).(21) A bottle of 90 tablets is about 25 dollars plus shipping.(21) Visit the hypothyroidism page on my web site for more thyroid related information.(22)

Iodoral is an important part of our breast cancer prevention program.

Spontaneous Regression of Breast Cancer

David Brownstein MD reports three cases of spontaneous regression of breast cancer after women take iodine supplementation.(1) (This is reported on page 63 of the Iodine Book by David Brownstein MD.)

Joan, an English Teacher

The first patient, Joan a 63 year old English teacher, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1989, declined conventional treatment, and took 50 mg per day of Iodoral, (Iodine). Six weeks later, a PET scan (left image) showed, “all of the existing tumors were disintegrating“.

Delores

The second patient, 73 year old Delores, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003. She declined conventional treatment with radiation and chemotherapy. Instead, Dolores took 50 mg of Iodoral daily. A follow up ultrasound of the breast 18 months later showed,” It appears that these malignancies have diminished in size since the last examination. Interval improvement is definitely seen,” Two years later a follow up mammogram and ultrasound failed to show any abnormality and were read by the radiologist as normal.

Joyce

The third patient, 52 year old Joyce was diagnosed with breast cancer two years prior, and started on Iodoral 50 mg per day. Three years after starting Iodoral, her follow up mammograms and ultrasound exams show decreasing size of the tumor with no progression.(1)

Iodine Deficiency Causes Breast Cancer – The Overwhelming EvidenceHuman Studies of Areas with Low Iodine

Iodine deficiency is associated with a higher rate of goiter and breast cancer. Similarly, higher dietary Iodine intake is associated with less goiter and breast cancer. For example, Japan has the highest dietary intake of iodine (13 mg per day), and the lowest rates for goiter and breast cancer. However, when Japanese women immigrate and change dietary intake of Iodine to the lower 150 mcg/day in America, breast cancer rates increase.(1)

Iceland is another country with high Iodine intake and low rates for goiter and breast cancer. The high dietary iodine came from the fishing industry before WWI. In those days, the fish meal was fed to dairy cows providing milk with high iodine content. After WWI, the fish meal was eliminated from the dairy cows, and breast cancer rates soared ten-fold. (2)

Animal studies

Iodine deficient diets in animals induces breast cancer and goiter.(1)

Iodine Research from Mexico, India and Japan.

India

The Shrivastava group in India reported molecular iodine induces apoptosis (programmed cell death) in human breast cancer cell cultures. “Iodine showed cytotoxic effects in the cultured human breast cancer cells”. (3)

Mexico

From Mexico, the Carmen Aceves Velasco Group reported Iodine to be safe, with no harmful effects on thyroid function, and an anti-proliferative effect on human breast cancer cell cultures. (5)(6)(7) Their 2009 paper reported the mechanism by which Iodine works as an anti-cancer agent. Iodine binds to membrane lipids called lactones forming iodo-lactones which regulate apoptosis (programmed cell death). Iodine causes apoptosis which makes cancer cells undergo programmed cell death.(4) Dr. Aceves concluded that continuous molecular iodine treatment has a “potent antineoplastic effect” on the progression of mammary cancer. (10)

Japan

From Japan, Dr Funahashi reported a common seaweed food containing high iodine content is more beneficial than chemotherapy on breast cancer . “He found that administration of Lugol’s iodine or iodine-rich Wakame seaweed to rats treated with the carcinogen dimethyl benzanthracene suppressed the development of mammary tumors. The same group demonstrated that seaweed induced apoptosis in human breast cancer cells with greater potency than that of fluorouracil, a chemotherapeutic agent used to treat breast cancer.“(8)

Mechanism of Action-Altering Gene Expression

A 2008 paper by Bernard A. Eskin MD showed that Iodine actually altered gene expression in breast cancer cells, inducing programmed cell death. (9)

Lung Cancer and Iodine

A 2003 study by Ling Zhang showed that molecular Iodine caused lung cancer cells to undergo programmed cell death (apoptosis). These lung cancer cells had been genetically modified to increase iodine uptake.(12) Interestingly, a 1993 case report describes spontaneous remission of lung cancer in a patient incidentally treated with Amiodorone which contains iodine (about 9 mg per day)(13)

In Conclusion

Current Iodine research calls for use of molecular Iodine for all patients with breast cancer. (10)(11) Other cancers such as lung and prostate may also benefit. Further research on Iodine as cancer chemotherapy should receive top priority for NIH funding.

97% of Terminal Cancer Patients Previously Had This Dental Procedure…

97% of Terminal Cancer Patients Previously Had This Dental Procedure…by DR MERCOLA

dentist sqDo you have a chronic degenerative disease? If so, have you been told, “It’s all in your head?” Well, that might not be that far from the truth…

The root cause of your illness may be in your mouth.

There is a common dental procedure that nearly every dentist will tell you is completely safe, despite the fact that scientists have been warning of its dangers for more than 100 years.

Every day in the United States alone, 41,000 of these dental procedures are performed on patients who believe they are safely and permanently fixing their problem.

What is this dental procedure?

The root canal.

More than 25 million root canals are performed every year in this country.

Root-canaled teeth are essentially “dead” teeth that can become silent incubators for highly toxic anaerobic bacteria that can, under certain conditions, make their way into your bloodstream to cause a number of serious medical conditions—many not appearing until decades later.

Most of these toxic teeth feel and look fine for many years, which make their role in systemic disease even harder to trace back.

Sadly, the vast majority of dentists are oblivious to the serious potential health risks they are exposing their patients to, risks that persist for the rest of their patients’ lives. The American Dental Association claims root canals have been proven safe, but they have NO published data or actual research to substantiate this claim.

Fortunately, I had some early mentors like Dr. Tom Stone and Dr. Douglas Cook, who educated me on this issue nearly 20 years ago. Were it not for a brilliant pioneering dentist who, more than a century ago, made the connection between root-canaled teeth and disease, this underlying cause of disease may have remained hidden to this day. The dentist’s name was Weston Price—regarded by many as the greatest dentist of all time.

Weston A. Price: World’s Greatest Dentist

Most dentists would be doing an enormous service to public health if they familiarized themselves with the work of Dr. Weston Pricei. Unfortunately, his work continues to be discounted and suppressed by medical and dental professionals alike.

Dr. Price was a dentist and researcher who traveled the world to study the teeth, bones, and diets of native populations living without the “benefit” of modern food. Around the year 1900, Price had been treating persistent root canal infections and became suspicious that root-canaled teeth always remained infected, in spite of treatments. Then one day, he recommended to a woman, wheelchair bound for six years, to have her root canal tooth extracted, even though it appeared to be fine.

She agreed, so he extracted her tooth and then implanted it under the skin of a rabbit. The rabbit amazingly developed the same crippling arthritis as the woman and died from the infection 10 days later. But the woman, now free of the toxic tooth, immediately recovered from her arthritis and could now walk without even the assistance of a cane.

Price discovered that it’s mechanically impossible to sterilize a root-canaled (e.g. root-filled) tooth.

He then went on to show that many chronic degenerative diseases originate from root-filled teeth—the most frequent being heart and circulatory diseases. He actually found 16 different causative bacterial agents for these conditions. But there were also strong correlations between root-filled teeth and diseases of the joints, brain and nervous system. Dr. Price went on to write two groundbreaking books in 1922 detailing his research into the link between dental pathology and chronic illness. Unfortunately, his work was deliberately buried for 70 years, until finally one endodontist named George Meinig recognized the importance of Price’s work and sought to expose the truth.

Dr. Meinig Advances the Work of Dr. Price

Dr. Meinig, a native of Chicago, was a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II before moving to Hollywood to become a dentist for the stars. He eventually became one of the founding members of the American Association of Endodontists (root canal specialists).

In the 1990s, he spent 18 months immersed in Dr. Price’s research. In June of 1993, Dr. Meinig published the book Root Canal Cover-Up, which continues to be the most comprehensive reference on this topic today. You can order your copy directly from the Price-Pottenger Foundationii.

What Dentists Don’t Know About the Anatomy of Your Teeth

Your teeth are made of the hardest substances in your body.

In the middle of each tooth is the pulp chamber, a soft living inner structure that houses blood vessels and nerves. Surrounding the pulp chamber is the dentin, which is made of living cells that secrete a hard mineral substance. The outermost and hardest layer of your tooth is the white enamel, which encases the dentin.

The roots of each tooth descend into your jawbone and are held in place by the periodontal ligament. In dental school, dentists are taught that each tooth has one to four major canals. However, there are accessory canals that are never mentioned. Literally miles of them!

Just as your body has large blood vessels that branch down into very small capillaries, each of your teeth has a maze of very tiny tubules that, if stretched out, would extend for three miles. Weston Price identified as many as 75 separate accessory canals in a single central incisor (front tooth). For a more detailed explanation, refer to an article by Hal Huggins, DDS, MS, on the Weston A. Price Foundation website.iii (These images are borrowed from the Huggins article.)

Microscopic organisms regularly move in and around these tubules, like gophers in underground tunnels.

When a dentist performs a root canal, he or she hollows out the tooth, then fills the hollow chamber with a substance (called guttapercha), which cuts off the tooth from its blood supply, so fluid can no longer circulate through the tooth. But the maze of tiny tubules remains. And bacteria, cut off from their food supply, hide out in these tunnels where they are remarkably safe from antibiotics and your own body’s immune defenses.

The Root Cause of Much Disease

Under the stresses of oxygen and nutrient deprivation, these formerly friendly organisms morph into stronger, more virulent anaerobes that produce a variety of potent toxins. What were once ordinary, friendly oral bacteria mutate into highly toxic pathogens lurking in the tubules of the dead tooth, just awaiting an opportunity to spread.

No amount of sterilization has been found effective in reaching these tubules—and just about every single root-canaled tooth has been found colonized by these bacteria, especially around the apex and in the periodontal ligament. Oftentimes, the infection extends down into the jawbone where it creates cavitations—areas of necrotic tissue in the jawbone itself.

Cavitations are areas of unhealed bone, often accompanied by pockets of infected tissue and gangrene. Sometimes they form after a tooth extraction (such as a wisdom tooth extraction), but they can also follow a root canal. According to Weston Price Foundation, in the records of 5,000 surgical cavitation cleanings, only two were found healed.

And all of this occurs with few, if any, accompanying symptoms. So you may have an abscessed dead tooth and not know it. This focal infection in the immediate area of the root-canaled tooth is bad enough, but the damage doesn’t stop there.

Root Canals Can Lead to Heart, Kidney, Bone, and Brain Disease

As long as your immune system remains strong, any bacteria that stray away from the infected tooth are captured and destroyed. But once your immune system is weakened by something like an accident or illness or other trauma, your immune system may be unable to keep the infection in check.

These bacteria can migrate out into surrounding tissues by hitching a ride into your blood stream, where they are transported to new locations to set up camp. The new location can be any organ or gland or tissue.

Dr. Price was able to transfer diseases harbored by humans to rabbits, by implanting fragments of root-canaled teeth, as mentioned above. He found that root canal fragments from a person who had suffered a heart attack, when implanted into a rabbit, would cause a heart attack in the rabbit within a few weeks.

He discovered he could transfer heart disease to the rabbit 100 percent of the time! Other diseases were more than 80 percent transferable by this method. Nearly every chronic degenerative disease has been linked with root canals, including:

-Heart disease
-Kidney disease
-Arthritis, joint, and rheumatic diseases
-Neurological diseases (including ALS and MS)
-Autoimmune diseases (Lupus and more)

There may also be a cancer connection. Dr. Robert Jones, a researcher of therelationship between root canals and breast cancer, found an extremely high correlation between root canals and breast cancer.iv He claims to have found the following correlations in a five-year study of 300 breast cancer cases:

-93 percent of women with breast cancer had root canals
-7 percent had other oral pathology
-Tumors, in the majority of cases, occurred on the same side of the body as the root canal(s) or other oral pathology

Dr. Jones claims that toxins from the bacteria in an infected tooth or jawbone are able to inhibit the proteins that suppress tumor development. A German physician reported similar findings. Dr. Josef Issels reported that, in his 40 years of treating “terminal” cancer patients, 97 percent of his cancer patients had root canals. If these physicians are correct, the cure for cancer may be as simple as having a tooth pulled, then rebuilding your immune system.

Good Bugs Gone Bad

How are these mutant oral bacteria connected with heart disease or arthritis? The ADA and the AAE claim it’s a “myth” that the bacteria found in and around root-canaled teeth can cause diseasev. But they base that on the misguided assumption that the bacteria in these diseased teeth are the SAME as normal bacteria in your mouth—and that’s clearly not the case.

Today, bacteria can be identified using DNA analysis, whether they’re dead or alive, from their telltale DNA signatures.

In a continuation of Dr. Price’s work, the Toxic Element Research Foundation (TERF) used DNA analysis to examine root-canaled teeth, and they found bacterial contamination in 100 percent of the samples tested. They identified 42 different species of anaerobic bacteria in 43 root canal samples. In cavitations, 67 different bacteria were identified among the 85 samples tested, with individual samples housing between 19 to 53 types of bacteria each. The bacteria they found included the following types:

-Capnocytophagaochracea
-Fusobacteriumnucleatum
-Gemellamorbillorum
-Leptotrichiabuccalis
-Porphyromonasgingivalis

Are these just benign, ordinary mouth bugs? Absolutely not. Four can affect your heart, three can affect your nerves, two can affect your kidneys, two can affect your brain, and one can infect your sinus cavities… so they are anything BUT friendly! (If you want see just how unfriendly they can be, I invite you to investigate the footnotes.)

Approximately 400 percent more bacteria were found in the blood surrounding the root canal tooth than were found in the tooth itself, suggesting the tooth is the incubatorand the periodontal ligament is the food supply. The bone surrounding root-canaled teeth was found even HIGHER in bacterial count… not surprising, since bone is virtual buffet of bacterial nutrients.

Since When is Leaving A Dead Body Part IN Your Body a Good Idea?

There is no other medical procedure that involves allowing a dead body part to remain in your body. When your appendix dies, it’s removed. If you get frostbite or gangrene on a finger or toe, it is amputated. If a baby dies in utero, the body typically initiates a miscarriage.

Your immune system doesn’t care for dead substances, and just the presence of dead tissue can cause your system to launch an attack, which is another reason to avoid root canals—they leave behind a dead tooth.

Infection, plus the autoimmune rejection reaction, causes more bacteria to collect around the dead tissue. In the case of a root canal, bacteria are given the opportunity to flush into your blood stream every time you bite down.

Why Dentists Cling to the Belief Root Canals are Safe

The ADA rejects Dr. Price’s evidence, claiming root canals are safe, yet they offer no published data or actual research to substantiate their claim. American Heart Association recommends a dose of antibiotics before many routine dental procedures to prevent infective endocarditis (IE) if you have certain heart conditions that predispose you to this type of infection.

So, on the one hand, the ADA acknowledges oral bacteria can make their way from your mouth to your heart and cause a life-threatening infection.

But at the same time, the industry vehemently denies any possibility that these same bacteria—toxic strains KNOWN to be pathogenic to humans—can hide out in your dead root-canaled tooth to be released into your blood stream every time you chew, where they can damage your health in a multitude of ways.

Is this really that large of a leap? Could there be another reason so many dentists, as well as the ADA and the AAE, refuse to admit root canals are dangerous? Well, yes, as a matter of fact, there is. Root canals are the most profitable procedure in dentistry.

What You Need to Know to AVOID a Root Canal

I strongly recommend never getting a root canal. Risking your health to preserve a tooth simply doesn’t make sense. Unfortunately, there are many people who’ve already have one. If you have, you should seriously consider having the tooth removed, even if it looks and feels fine. Remember, as soon as your immune system is compromised, your risk of of developing a serious medical problem increases—and assaults on your immune system are far too frequent in today’s world.

If you have a tooth removed, there are a few options available to you.

1)Partial denture: This is a removable denture, often just called a “partial.” It’s the simplest and least expensive option.
2)Bridge: This is a more permanent fixture resembling a real tooth but is a bit more involved and expensive to build.
3)Implant: This is a permanent artificial tooth, typically titanium, implanted in your gums and jaw. There are some problems with these due to reactions to the metals used. Zirconium is a newer implant material that shows promise for fewer complications.

But just pulling the tooth and inserting some sort of artificial replacement isn’t enough.

Dentists are taught to remove the tooth but leave your periodontal ligament. But as you now know, this ligament can serve as a breeding ground for deadly bacteria. Most experts who’ve studied this recommend removing the ligament, along with one millimeter of the bony socket, in order to drastically reduce your risk of developing an infection from the bacterially infected tissues left behind.

I strongly recommend consulting a biological dentist because they are uniquely trained to do these extractions properly and safely, as well as being adept at removing mercury fillings, if necessary. Their approach to dental care is far more holistic and considers the impact on your entire body—not JUST your mouth.

If you need to find a biological dentist in your area, I recommend visiting toxicteeth.org, a resource sponsored by Consumers for Dental Choice. This organization, championed by Charlie Brown, is a highly reputable organization that has fought to protect and educate consumers so that they can make better-informed decisions about their dental care. The organization also heads up the Campaign for Mercury-Free Dentistry.

In January,  2 of my friends had root canals – He has had abscesses and  has been suffering severe trigeminal neuralgia since. He is still off work on antibiotics and very significant pain killers. She is diabetic, with in a week of her root canal, tooth was abscessing and she had an awful flu. They worked on the tooth 3 times after that, over $2500.00 and 6 weeks later they had to remove that tooth and the one beside it as nothing would touch the infection.****

The Amazing Health Benefits Of Raw Lemon Juice

The Amazing Health Benefits Of Raw Lemon Juice

The origins of the lemon are unclear, but it is commonly thought that they originated in India, China and Burma and then entered Europe via Italy in the 1st Century AD.

But the one thing that we can all agree on, is the natural health benefits of this little yellow superstar.

Health Benefits of Raw Lemon JuiceRaw lemon juice is well known for it’s antioxidants and anti-cancer properties and has been used for centuries in order to cure many ailments. Being rich in Vitamin C, it is also essential for maintaining a fully functional immune system, aiding digestion, fighting cancer, helping wounds to heal faster and can even help to prevent heart failure.
In the 18th Century, The Royal Navy used lemons to fight scurvy (Vitamin C deficiency) and the roman Emperor Nero was reputed to have consumed copious amounts in order to prevent being poisoned by one of his many enemies.

But lemons are not only used for their medicinal qualities and health benefits. Lemon juice is also used in the home in order to disinfect surfaces, remove stains, clean cookers and remove old wax. It can also be used as an insecticide to deter mosquitoes, flies and other insects.

It’s hard to imagine any natural product that contains so many beneficial usages than the humble little lemon. You could say that it’s the Swiss Army Knife of the fruit world!

Let’s take a look at a few more of the incredible benefits of fresh lemon juice.

pH Alkaline State – It is vital to maintain a slightly positive alkaline state in order to fight off Cancer and other illnesses. Although acidic to taste, lemons are one of the most alkaline of foods and help to push our bodies to the required pH alkaline state of around 7.4. See this page for a large list ofalkaline forming foods. Please also see the following page for another very good list of alkaline foods. http://rense.com/1.mpicons/acidalka.htm

Blood Purifier – Lemons are a blood purifier and help the body to remove toxins.

Blood Sugar Balance – The acidity of raw lemon juice lowers the impact of any meal on your blood sugar.

Detoxification – Raw lemon juice cleanses the kidneys and the digestive system. It helps the body in the removal of toxins and provides you with a great overall detox.

Weight Loss – The pectin in lemon peel is a great source of fiber that is thought to help overweight people lose weight.

Osteoporosis – Lemon juice is rich in Vitamin C and helps the body to absorb calcium and fight osteoporosis. Two tablespoons of raw lemon juice diluted in a glass of warm water is good for pregnant women, as it helps build the bones in the unborn child.

Insomnia – in case of insomnia, raw lemon juice helps to improve sleep.

Brain and Nerve Food – The potassium found in raw lemon juice helps the brain and nerve cells, improves concentration, memory and calms the mind.

Immune System – Raw lemon juice strengthens the immune system which in turn helps fight many illnesses including cancer.

Infection – When sickness has developed raw lemon juice is an excellent fighter of infection, as it is rich in citric acid.

Cough and Cold – Lemon added to a little hot water with some honey is one of the most effective remedies known for a cough and cold.

Asthma – Having half-teaspoonful of fresh lemon juice, washing it down with luke-warm water before each meal provides quick relief to Asthma. Repeating it as the last dose of the day and starting the day with it also gives very positive results.

Corns – Apply lemon juice a few times a day and see the miraculous results. Bind the corn and leave it overnight and get rid of the trouble soon.

Nausea, Vomiting and Travel Sickness – Take a glass of lemon juice diluted with some water to help with travel sickness and nausea.

Rheumatic and Bone-Related Diseases – A few glasses of diluted lemon juice is the surest remedy for rheumatic fever, painful joints, lumbago and sciatica.

Acne, Spots and Pimples – Applying raw lemon juice to the face is a popular remedy for acne and pimples.

Hair – The external use of raw lemon juice makes hair shinier and stronger.

Low Vitality – People suffering from low vitality should have lemon and honey mixed water for an immediate cure.

Radiation – As lemon juice is excellent at cleansing the blood and removing toxins, it is a great way of removing radiation from the body. If you have had Chemotherapy, regular lemon juice drinks can help to rid the body of any remaining radiation.

LEMON DRINK RECIPE

Day 1 – the juice of 1 lemon
Day 2 – the juice of 1.5 lemons
Day 3 – the juice of 2 lemons
Day 4 – the juice of 2.5 lemons

Keep increasing by ½ every day until you reach 5 lemons (this will really help push the body to a pH Alkaline state which is very important in overcoming an illness)

Image courtesy of yellow.cat on Flickr

Then start to go down by the juice of ½ lemon until you reach zero.

5 lemons would be a reasonable goal for smaller people, children, etc. You can go as high as 10 or even 30 lemons for adults.

You can add Stevia and of course water; adjust to your own taste. No maple syrup or any other sweetener if you have cancer. Cancer patients should not take more than 2 teaspoons of honey per day, so easy on that as well.

You do not have to drink the lemon juice all at once. You can make it and keep some in the refrigerator and drink it throughout the day. It is excellent to combat nausea. Add a little warm or room temperature water to the juice as one should never drink cold drinks.

After consuming the lemon juice, take some pure water, rinse the mouth and swallow so that you do not have lemon juice on your teeth, which in high amounts could be hard on the enamel over a period of time.

Once you reach the 5 or 10 to 15 or 30 lemons in one day start to go back down slowly decreasing one lemon daily, or one-half lemon daily.

You can also use the lemon rind when baking as it contains Limonene which is also very beneficial. Make sure that you are using organic lemons as the peel of non-organic lemon will possibly contain harmful pesticides.

Pot-smoking Mountie can’t smoke publicly in uniform: RCMP

Cpl. Ron Francis legally smokes marijuana daily while on duty to treat post-traumatic stress disorder

A Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer with a medical marijuana prescription thinks he should be able to smoke the drug while in uniform, but the RCMP says he can’t smoke marijuana while in red serge or while wearing his regular working uniform.

RCMP Assistant Commissioner Gilles MoreauRCMP assistant commissioner Gilles Moreau said any officer with a medical marijuana prescription can take their medication, but should not do so in while in public in their uniform. (CBC)

Cpl. Ronald Francis serves with J Division in New Brunswick, and received a prescription for medical-grade marijuana on Nov. 4.

‘There’s no policy in the RCMP that prevents me from smoking marijuana. There’s no policy in the RCMP that says I cannot smoke in public. I have the right to smoke it in my red serge.’-Cpl. Ronald Francis

Francis told CBC News marijuana has helped him to calm down and reduces his PTSD symptoms. His prescription allows for three grams a day, which he estimates to be nine to 15 joints, though he said he doesn’t typically smoke that much.

“I get up in the morning, have my coffee and the marijuana. I go at lunchtime, have a marijuana joint, and then again in the evening. That would be my medical regime. But that may change with my tolerance to THC. It may take two joints in the morning, I don’t know,” said Francis.

“I’m just building up my immunity to THC levels, if I was to smoke two I’d probably get stoned to the point that I’m just totally relaxed. I’m still functional. But your nervous system is relaxed, and that makes a big difference,” he said.

RCMP Cpl. Ronald FrancisCpl. Francis said his choice to switch to medical marijuana was a health decision. (CBC)

Francis, who is currently assigned to administrative duties, said smoking marijuana has no negative effect on his ability to be a police officer and that he intends to continue smoking on the job.

“There’s no policy in the RCMP that prevents me from smoking marijuana. There’s no policy in the RCMP that says I cannot smoke in public. I have the right to smoke it in my red serge.”

RCMP says officers ‘should not be in red serge’ while smoking marijuana

But while the RCMP accepts that Francis’s prescription gives him the right to consume marijuana, the force takes issue with members smoking in public or in uniform.

“Definitely a member that has been prescribed medicinal marijuana should not be in red serge taking his medication,” said RCMP assistant commissioner Gilles Moreau. “It would not be advisable for that member, it would not portray the right message to the general public, it’s definitely not something we would support or condone.”

Moreau said the RCMP has a duty to accommodate members’ medical needs, but also has to consider the effect on other members and on public perceptions.

“Because this is relatively new for active members of the RCMP, we are looking at the internal policies to see, how do we set it up? To say, OK, if somebody is prescribed medical marijuana and they have to take it two or three times a day and have to take it at work, where is this going to take place? If it takes place outside, it has to respect the individual but also their co-workers, and it has to respect the Canadian population at large by taking it in a respectful way.”

The RCMP has the right to challenge medical treatments it considers inappropriate, and to seek a second medical opinion, Moreau said, adding that RCMP will evaluate any member who obtains a medical marijuana prescription.

If they are found to be impaired in judgment or motor skills, the RCMP will place limits on the police functions they’re permitted to perform, he said.

Turned to marijuana after trying anti-depressants

Francis said he experienced stress on the job early in his career, while serving the First Nation in Davis Inlet and in his own community of Kingsclear First Nation. He began to seek treatment for mental distress eight years ago.

At first, his doctors prescribed anti-depressants, but he did not feel any significant improvement.

“I started to self-medicate with alcohol. And I said no, this is not me. Why am I doing this? And I was going through treatment for PTSD at the time, and the RCMP did provide treatment, and I thank the RCMP for that.”

But Francis began to read about alternative treatments, including marijuana, and he eventually left the doctor he was seeing at the occupational stress injury clinic. He switched to a different doctor, who gave him the marijuana prescription.

“When I explored it as a treatment for my PTSD, I had to really make a moral decision about it. Because the RCMP and law enforcement, they seem so anti-marijuana, and that’s a hard thing to overcome, so I had to make that decision for my own health. It wasn’t based on my career or anything.

“It was for my own health. In doing that I realized that I have to come first. The organization doesn’t come first, Ron Francis comes first. For my own health. And I’m glad I did that,” he said.

Cannabis is proving to be the most nutritionally complete vegetable on the planet as well as one of the most beneficial natural or prescription medicine for hundreds of diseases.
As we the general public are exposed to the far reaching health benefits and understand the fact that if CANNABIS is ingested raw and not exposed to heat, there are NO PSYCHOACTIVE EFFECTS, attitude and acceptance will change. I foresee in the not to distant future, that the general public WILL DEMAND the right to grow and use this vegetable as freely as the potato or tomato.***

Top 10 Ways to Prepare Kale

Top 10 Ways to Prepare Kale

*** Reposter Note –  Thanks to Mary Crimmins of eatlocal.com for putting Top 10 Ways to Prepare Kale together. It is a terrific collection of tasty sounding recipes. When cooking these days, I replace olive oil etc. with Coconut or Graperseed oil as they handle heat much better and have higher smoke points. I have been getting both at Costco as they seem to have the best quality of both oils for the best price. We have grown Kale in our flower beds as it so visually vibrant. It is also quite hardy and  pruning allows you to use the pruned leaves in the kitchen through out the summer.  Check out your local bedding plant locations for some of the more decorative strains or grow your own from seed.***

My body has been deprived of leafy greens this summer. It has been so hot here in Nashville, that no greens stood a chance to grow in the blazing heat. Last week, I saw a familiar friend at the Market – KALE! I couldn’t believe it. For me this marked the end of the summer, and the promise of cooler temperatures to come.

So I over zealously bought 5 bunches, which set me back about $15. I didn’t care, I had kale.

Once I got home I realized that I couldn’t really fit all 5 bunches in my refrigerator, so I needed to deal with it in the next day or so. So I decided to make up a big batch of kale pesto that I could freeze. (Recipe)

After receiving lots of messages via twitter about what else people could do with kale, I figured I’d better help ya’ll out and offer a few ways to prepare it. It’s no secret that kale is one of nature’s super foods, and getting it into your diet is worth the effort.

10 Ways to Prepare Kale

  1. Kale Chips – This simple preparation of kale will have you begging for more. A crispy salty treat that is better than popcorn or potato chips.
  2. Kale Pesto – More flavorful than basil pesto, this is a great addition to pizza, pasta, or in an omelet.
  3. Sauteed Kale – For a hearty side dish, this is a classic preparation. I saute onions and garlic before I add the kale, and add a couple dashes of hot sauce for an added kick.
  4. Kale Quiche – You can substitute any spinach quiche with kale and it offers the same great taste with the added health benefits.
  5. Kale Soup – A classic kale soup is made with white beans and ham or sausage, however I like this recipe of using acorn squash and kale to create a sweet and savory winter favorite.
  6. Kale Lasagna – The perfect “make ahead” recipe for a hearty dinner is a dish the whole family can enjoy.
  7. Kale Juice – If you own a juicer, kale is quite possibly the healthiest thing to juice. Mix it with apples, carrot and a little lemon for a drink that is better for you than liquid gold.
  8. Kale Slaw – You can substitute raw kale for raw cabbage in this recipe.
  9. Kale Pasta – One of my favorite ingredients to add to pasta. Goes with just about anything from spaghetti to sausage pasta to baked macaroni and cheese.
  10. Kale Pizza – One of the joys I’ve found with eating seasonally is changing up my grilled pizza toppings. One of my favorite combinations is sauteed kale, caramelized onions, strong white cheeses, and some crispy bacon.

Overall, kale is a delicious and hearty green. Treat it like spinach and you can substitute it in just about any recipe. Experiment and enjoy!

For external uses, expeller pressed or other types of refined coconut oil will work, but for internal use, an unrefined virgin coconut oil is best. My husband and I both take about 4 tablespoons a day and the kids get a couple tablespoons in food, smoothies, or hot herbal tea.

What – You Still Think Salt Consumption Causes High Blood Pressure?

What – You Still Think Salt Consumption Causes High Blood Pressure?

October 23rd, 2013salt blood pressure 263x164 What – You Still Think Salt Consumption Causes High Blood Pressure?
High sodium intake as a source of high blood pressure has been an unchallenged dogmatic mantra for decades. But a few renegade MDs, several naturopaths, and chiropractors have challenged the unproven hypothesis of salt being the basis of high blood pressure (HBP). Turns out that the link between high sodium intake and elevated blood pressure is a false one.

Pure, unrefined salt is actually a necessary and helpful dietary component. Perhaps the most well known salt promoter is Dr. David Brownstein, MD, author of Salt Your Way to HealthRefined commercial table salt, used excessively in processed foods, is processed with toxic chemicals and stripped of its inherent nutritional value. It’s mostly poison with very little nutrition, though even using table salt often won’t lead to high blood pressure.

Actually, those with high blood pressure (and everyone, really) should just consume more foods rich in potassium. Meta-analysis’ show how low potassium intake has the same impact on blood pressure as high salt consumption – the real problem is an imbalance between sodium and potassium.

It appears the new HBP dietary villain could be high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which has been already linked to obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular health issues.

HFCS is more commonly used in processed foods, fruit juices, sweets, and sodas than cane or beet sugar. It’s cheaper than sucrose (table sugar), and satisfies the “sweet tooth” SAD (standard American diet) consumers’ desire.

According to the USDA, HFCS consumption has increased significantly from 1970 to 2005, and it is now the number one source of empty calories in America. In fact, Americans eat approximately 35 lbs on average of high-fructose corn syrup each year.

How HFCS Contributes to Hypertension or High Blood Pressure

Fructose in fruit is tied to several other nutritional compounds that balance out fructose’s negative aspects. But fructose isolated from corn and made into a syrup is too much for the body to metabolize. Even table sugar metabolizes better.

Robert H. Lustig, MD, a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explains how the rise in HFCS use over the past three to four decades is behind the obesity and diabetes epidemic, both of which contribute to high blood pressure.

HFCS or “corn sugar” or “corn syrup” initiates a toxic overload from insufficient metabolism. The liver doesn’t convert isolated, concentrated fructose into energy well and stores it as fat instead. Add this to the dangers of GMO corn with traces of extremely toxic glyphosate herbicides and mercury as a byproduct from the conversion process. This toxic overload leads to obesity, fatty liver, other liver complications, and kidney disease.

Dr. Richard Johnson of the University of Colorado has been a researcher of investigations into HFCS and high blood pressure. His research revealed definite links of high HFCS consumption to high blood pressure.

What’s more, one of the toxic waste products remaining in the body from regular HFCS consumption is uric acid. A test of 17 subjects with high uric acid counts showed all 17 with high blood pressure. Uric acid inhibits nitric oxide (NO) in the blood vessels.

Nitric oxide is a volatile gas that helps maintain blood vessel elasticity. When that elasticity decreases, blood pressure increases. Here are 4 ways to increase nitric oxide naturally.  (if you find that you can not increase NO through these suggestions see Deb’s Solution and the link below it. Nitric Oxide also dissolves plague in every blood vessel in the body including the brain so is extremely important in reversing and  preventing disease and it’s precursor inflammation)

A safe range of uric acid is from 3 to 5.5 milligrams per deciliter (0.1 liter), with 4 mg/dl ideal for men and 3.5 mg/dl for women. Higher numbers threaten blood pressure increases. You can ask your health professional about a uric acid test or shop the Internet by inserting “uric acid blood testing” in your search engine.

***Reposter’s note

I was uninformed about salt until a doctor friend pointed out saline is one of medicine faithful standbys. We were at dinner in the cafeteria and I commented on her bringing her own salt and that it was a good thing considering how much she used. She was using granulated Himalayan Sea Salt.

I use a wonderful all natural supplement that causes the body to naturally create more Nitric Oxide. Based on Nobel Prize winning Science, world renowned Cardiologists are turning to it as a solution. Attached is an article that demonstrates real world health total recovery from the abyss of heart disease after exhausting all medical options. One example highlights a 72 year old patient, who went from not being able walk across a room to a daily workout that that most healthy much younger individuals can not complete. Read his story.

Nitric Oxide  production is hugely important.  Nitric Oxide relaxes our blood vessels and dissolves plague.  Plaque causes heart attacks, stoke,   Alzheimers and  dementia. It plays a role in reducing function in every organ. The more Nitric Oxide we produce the healthier our blood vessels. The healthier our blood vessels, the better every part of our body works, that includes the brain and every organ of the body. Of course as we age, we progressively produce less Nitric Oxide – go figure.

My husband was told he would be on oxygen full time by the age of 50. His shortness of breath during exertion was becoming very concerning. I had taken him to emergency because I thought he was having a heart attack and he was scared enough to go. (He is very stubborn – getting him to go to the doctor only happens when he is in extreme pain  or very scared.) My solution has given him his stamina and ability to complete exertion tasks back to levels he was at many years ago. I was impressed enough, I have chosen to distribute the product and let other people know about it because it helped  my husband and will keep me from losing him before his time.

I am so thankful my friend Sharon educated me on this solution, I know she saved my husband’s life and health. I want to pay it forward so other spouses, sisters, brothers, children, parents and freinds at least have the knowledge to choose to do something effective and practical. Knowledge is power and for some of us this knowledge will give us the power to make a change that will gives us a a much healthier future.

Marijuana and HIV; What Big Pharma Doesn’t Want You to Know

Marijuana and HIV; What Big Pharma Doesn’t Want You to Know

marijuana&bigpharma

The overwhelming evidence of the curative powers of marijuana and cannabinoids leave little doubt that the pharmaceutical industry is behind marijuana prohibition laws. The amount of research now validating the truly remarkable nature of this healing plant is simply enormous. According to new findings published in the journal PLoS ONE, researchers have now have now discovered that marijuana-like chemicals trigger receptors on human immune cells that can directly inhibit a type of human immuno-deficiency virus (HIV) found in late-stage AIDS.

The U.S. Patent 6630507 was specifically initiated when researchers found that cannabinoids had specific antioxidant properties making them useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia.

The Netherlands became the world’s first country to make cannabis available as a prescription drug in pharmacies to treat cancer, HIV and multiple sclerosis patients.

Medical marijuana has been typically prescribed to treat pain, debilitating weight loss and appetite suppression in patients with advanced AIDS. However, Mount Sinai School of Medicine researchers have produced the first study to reveal how the marijuana receptors found on immune cells–called cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2–can influence the spread of the virus.

marijuana_medical_illegal

Unfortunately, the scientists will use the research on the effects of these receptors to develop new drugs to benefit the pharmaceutical industry.

Marijuana researcher and activist Jason Mihaldas says the studies finally justify what the pro-marijuana community has always know. “Decades of anecdotal and empirical evidence are now being validated by the scientific community, but it’s unfortunate they are using this research for their own selfish motives–to take marijuana from its raw medically effective form to one where it will be medically ineffective with processing agents, altering what it was designed to do…heal,” proclaimed Mihaldas.

“We knew that cannabinoid drugs like marijuana can have a therapeutic effect in AIDS patients, but did not understand how they influence the spread of the virus itself,” said study author Cristina Costantino, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Pharmacology and Systems Therapeutics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. “We wanted to explore cannabinoid receptors as a target for pharmaceutical interventions that treat the symptoms of late-stage AIDS and prevent further progression of the disease without the undesirable side effects of medical marijuana.”

Nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidoil, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention. CBD (Cannabidiol), one of the main constituents of the cannabis plant has been proven medically to relieve many diseases including the inhibition of cancer cell growth. Recent studies have shown it to be an effective atypical anti-psychotic in treating schizophrenia. CBD also interferes with the amount of THC your brain processes, balancing the psychotropic effect of marijuana. That is precisely why the power of raw cannabis is turning heads.

HIV infects active immune cells that carry the viral receptor CD4, which makes these cells unable to fight off the infection. In order to spread, the virus requires that “resting” immune cells be activated. In advanced AIDS, HIV mutates so it can infect these resting cells, gaining entry into the cell by using a signaling receptor called CXCR4. By treating the cells with a cannabinoid agonist that triggers CB2, Dr. Costantino and the Mount Sinai team found that CB2 blocked the signaling process, and suppressed infection in resting immune cells.

The Mount Sinai team infected healthy immune cells with HIV, then treated them with a chemical that triggers CB2 called an agonist. They found that the drug reduced the infection of the remaining cells.

“Developing a drug that triggers only CB2 as an adjunctive treatment to standard antiviral medication may help alleviate the symptoms of late-stage AIDS and prevent the virus from spreading,” said Dr. Costantino. Because HIV does not use CXCR4 to enhance immune cell infection in the early stages of infection, CB2 agonists appear to be an effective antiviral drug only in late-stage disease.

As a result of this discovery, the research team led by Benjamin Chen, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases, and Lakshmi Devi, PhD, Professor of Pharmacology and Systems Therapeutics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, plans to develop a mouse model of late-stage AIDS in order to test the efficacy of a drug that triggers CB2 in vivo.

Now that the scientific evidence is being made public, a concerted effort must be made from all nations to end marijuana-prohibition laws. Holding or possessing a plant should never be a criminal offence and the origins and source for these laws are now coming to light.

WEED: A Dr. Sanjay Gupta Special + Additional Food for Thought

 A Dr. Sanjay Gupta Special

Quite an education that is long overdue. I have added a lot more information for you to chew on. Thank You for bringing the gift of your open mind.

If the video is unavailable above just follow this link to you tube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z68q-bwGGTg

Dr. Gupta has my appreciation and gratitude for broaching this topic in such methodical well researched documentary.

Ricki Lake also hi-lighted this topic earlier this year and showed us real lives, extremely changed for the better by appropriate use of Cannabis.

Ricki Lake Show Mykayla Comstock Parents BraveMykayla.com – Meet the Martha Stewart of Marijuana

Cannabis is a complex issue. Here is some additional information that really opened my eyes.

THE PARENTS/PEOPLE  IN THESE VIDEOS COULD BE ANY OF US. They were desperate, they listened, learned, took action.

It was information and education that opened their eyes and changed their whole world. THEY ARE NOT CRAZY – THEY ARE JUST MORE EDUCATED IN THE FACTS ABOUT CANNABIS.

What follows is some of the information available out there that really opened my eyes.

A must watch is found at the end of this post is The Best Marijuana Documentary (Canadian)

There is a lot of support in the Medical Community that can not be voiced due to retribution and loss of livelihood. Lets free our Medical Community to use this tool sooner rather than later. There is a lot of support also found in the Policing community as well, and they for the same reasons can not voice it.

The generation graduating today will change this if we do not. They are not afraid of Cannabis and believe it is safe. They will be reaping the legacy of huge health care deficits. They will force the issue out of financial necessity but from the basis of knowledge and science.

Your body makes cannabinoids naturally. It is in mothers milk to help make new born babies become hungry and learn to suckle.

A great article from Natural News, read the full article here,   Cannabinoids, like those found in marijuana, occur naturally in human breast milk

“Cell membranes in the body are naturally equipped with these cannabinoid receptors which, when activated by cannabinoids and various other nutritive substances, protect cells against viruses, harmful bacteria, cancer, and other malignancies. And human breast milk is an abundant source of endocannabinoids, a specific type of neuromodulatory lipid that basically teaches a newborn child how to eat by stimulating the suckling process.”

Don’t you find it interesting that the human body comes equipped with cannabinoid receptors and that when they are activated, they protect cells against viruses, harmful bacteria, cancer, and other malignancies

Isn’t it also interesting that human breast milk is an abundant source of endocannabinoids? We know most babies, when born, are endowed with the benefits of it’s mothers immunities for the first few months allowing the baby a chance to develop it’s own immune system more fully. Does it then,  not also make sense that these cannabinoids might need augmenting when our bodies are stressed by certain conditions like cancer?

We, all human beings come with built in equipment so our bodies can defend and repair itself through the use of cannabinoids.

HMMMMM!

So it would be logical to anticipate that if the body is unable to repair itself due  to being overwhelmed by viruses, harmful bacteria, cancer, and other malignancies – giving this substance to the body would enable it to revitalize that defense mechanism ?

Wouldn’t that then  explain the results of many studies over many decades showing a wide range of medicinal benefits to people who suffer from Parkinson’s to Cancer and pretty much every thing in between?.

Yet Marijuana/Cannabis has been criminalized and demonized, denying the public at large a safe effective medicinal solution with no horribly detrimental side effects when used appropriately.

Also very interestingly  – No one has ever died from a Cannabis overdose. The same cannot be said for many of the man made pharmaceuticals which treat the same health concerns.

Cannabis is a VEGTABLE

Raw Cannabis IS NOT PSYCHO-ACTIVE

Cannabis provides highly digestible globular protein, which is balanced for all of the Essential Amino Acids. Cannabis provides the ideal ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids. Critically, cannabis is the only known source of the Essential Cannabinoid Acids. It is clear that all 7 billion individuals would benefit from access to cannabis as a unique functional food.

Alcohol, a large portion of pharmaceuticals, glue, certain permanent markers, various hallucinogenic herbs, aspartame, tobacco etc. are all legal or legal but controlled.

Most street drugs and Cannabis/ Marijuana are illegal.

Of this group only Marijuana/Cannabis can be categorized as non lethal in all dosages.

What do the majority of these substances have in common WHEN NOT USED IN MODERATION:

  • can be addictive ,
  • impact brain development in the frontal cortex in people under  25,
  • cause panic attacks and paranoia.

Addiction Rates

  • Cannabis 9%
  • Heroin 23%
  • Cocaine 17%
  • Alcohol 15%

Deaths

0 attributable to cannabis use in the US in 2005. (http://medicalmarijuana.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=000145)
79,000 attributable to excessive alcohol use in the US in 2005. (http://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/ardi.htm)
22,400 drug overdose deaths in the US in 2005, (http://www.drugfreeworld.org/about-us/about-the-foundation.html)
106,000 of those are the result of prescription drug use  (w.activistpost.com/2013/05/death-by-prescription-drugs-is-growing.html)

Drug overdose breakdown
  • Prescription Drugs 45% (Depressants, opioids and antidepressants)
  • Street Drugs Combined 39% (Amphetamine, Heroin, Methamphetamine, Cocaine)

Conclusions

  • Alcohol is the  second most deadly and the most accessible
  • Prescription Drugs are the most deadly and second most accessible
  • Street Drugs are third most deadly and accessible
  • Cannabis does not cause death
  • Cannabis is less addictive than street drugs or alcohol (no numbers readily available for prescription drug addiction)
  • Cannabis has numerous studies to support use as a medical alternative for numerous more dangerous pharmaceuticals.
  • Billions annually could be reallocated if cannabis was regulated, marketed and controlled similar to alcohol or tobacco.
  • Low THC – high Cannabinoid  strains could be grown without any more oversight than crops like wheat.
  • High THC – high Cannabinoid  strains could be grown with appropriate monitoring and security engaged during late growth stages and processing .
  • A legalized cannabis industry could create billions of dollars in income and a significant boost to jobs. This industry  properly handled could be a huge source of tax income.
  • We would solve many issues and have a multi billion dollar hemp economy as it can be used for 1000’s of products.
  • Proper education programs for young people could be created – give them the whole picture. Regulate high THC content Marijuana/Cannabis just like alcohol and tobacco
  • More youth in the United States drink alcohol than smoke tobacco or marijuana, making Alcohol the drug most used by American young people. (http://www.camy.org/factsheets/sheets/prevalence_of_underage_drinking.html)
  • Alcohol is the most used substance by young people and it has the highest death rate.
  • We are focusing on the wrong substance if the goal is to protect our people, young or older from themselves as alcohol has  much higher death and addiction rates and is consumed by a much larger segment of the population. It does not scientifically show many medical benefits.
  • Only a small minority would abuse Cannabis/Marijuana – they will do that whether it is legal or illegal.
  • Decriminalizing Cannabis would remove the criminal element from profiting, while freeing up resources that could be much better used elsewhere.  Just think how many less jail cells would be needed – the financial windfall from that alone would be staggering.

I, like most of you, have watched people use the recreational substances of alcohol and cannabis. Almost everyone has seen the nicest, smartest people become idiots when they drink more than moderate amounts.

People on an alcohol high (drunk)

  • Engage in riskier behavior
  • Show more dramatic emotional responses ( crying, fighting, are less easy to reason with, become agitated far more readily,
  • Are less coherent, often are unable to follow direct commands
  • Much more likely to have a physical reaction, vomiting, stumbling, falling, unconsciousness,
  • Addiction is very difficult to overcome, severe relapses can pose a huge threat to others

People on a cannabis high(stoned)

  • Are typically happy and easy to get along with
  • May seem more lethargic but in control of their faculties and bodies
  • May not show any noticeable physical reaction
  • Can follow direct commands
  • Addiction can be difficult to overcome, severe relapses typically only  pose a threat to themselves and that threat is the relapse into use.

In the event of a life threatening event, I would much prefer my children be in the hands of someone high on cannabis than someone who is drunk.

It is time to start really looking at the facts.

None of the above mind altering substances are toys for fun and games, whether they are legal or not. It is obvious and incontrovertible through scientific investigation and anecdotal experience that Cannabis causes the least negative impact socially and financially to society and the individual.

When juiced raw it is an unparalleled nutritional powerhouse with no hallucinogenic effects

Scientific studies of cannabis, some dating back decades show very significant medical efficacy.

The US government holds patents cannabinoids.

How is it any longer acceptable and accepted that a more realistic and practical categorization of Cannabis  be denied the populace at large?

How is it that we, as a civilized society continue to allow;

  • Billions upon Billions of wasted tax dollars and man hours on something that has never killed anyone.
  • Millions of patients to be subjected to Pharmaceuticals that further endanger their lives or quality of life due to destructive side effects, but continue to deny them access to a scientifically safer alternative.

THESE ARE QUESTIONS WE EACH NEED TO ASK OURSELVES.

I charge each and every one of you to ask any first responders you know, who they would rather deal have to deal with:

Someone who is using:

  • Cannabis
  • Alcohol
  • Prescription Drugs  (Depressants, opioids and antidepressants)
  • Street Drugs Combined  (Amphetamine, Heroin, Methamphetamine, Cocaine)
  • Or is not using anything but is in a heightened mental state like anger or psychosis.

I suspect you will get he same answer as I did. It was unanimous – the person using Cannabis.

There will always be those who will abuse substances, from mouth washes and aftershaves that contain alcohol to glue and gasoline that you can sniff. People have died from abusing each of those substances. Yet we didn’t make those substances unobtainable legally to the rest of the population. We the general public would never be in a position to compete and take any of that  business away.

On the other hand, if Cannabis were re-categorized, you could grow a marijuana plant in a pot in your apartment window and reap the health benefits. If everybody grew a few plants to juice and keep themselves healthy, that could cut into the profits derived from a lot of different products marketed commercially today,  Other companies would create  legal cannabis products like leaf juice that would still put most of that same money into the economy and health care legally.

If we were so inclined – we could make a number of alcohols in our homes  and grow their main in ingredients without breaking any laws.  Most of us choose not to. I believe the same would true of Cannabis. It being illegal makes it more attractive to the criminal element for it’s profitability.

Prohibition created a huge underground economy, large government enforcement agencies and made would be criminals out of  the general public.  The same has occurred with Cannabis and as you can see from the statistics above, it does a lot less harm. It is long past time to move forward.

Not so long ago many OTC drugs were mainly in the domain pharmacists. There were huge fears what  would happen out here in the real world. The reality is most of us use them as intended and a the few abuse them. Should we really expect anything different from Cannabis.

It clearly is not a cocaine. opium, heroin or ecstasy. Without the cachet and the profit, the criminal element would loose interest.

There could be huge business with so many spin off jobs and businesses. Only a bit of barley, wheat, corn etc goes into  making alcohol. Only a bit of certain plants at a certain point in maturation contain the THC which only becomes psychoactive when heated.

That is why it didn’t warrant the attention of the general public before 1937 and was in the hands of farmers and businesses.

One person, Henry J. Ainslinger, made it his mission to change this and make a name for himself. Others saw an opportunity to protect their interests and got on that bandwagon. Those interests are just as real today so the funding and support of the bandwagon continues.

Today we know so much more – Cannabis is no longer the big scary beast we were told it was. Due to the internet, that knowledge is out here for us all to see. The wheels are starting to fall off this bandwagon state by state and special interests and agendas can no longer keep up.

Soon it will translate to the Federal level as the old guard and their alliances are replaced. As the groundswell grows it will be interesting to see how it is dealt with by leadership candidates.

The various parts of Cannabis being sold through appropriate retailers would allow regulation and control. Pharmacies or liquor stores for the part that contains THC actives. The leaves which contain no THC could be harvested and be handled like wheat grass. The cold pressed oil and the hemp hearts  would go on the grocery shelves and the fiber would go out to industry to make canvas, rope, bio-fuel, pulp and paper fiber, cloth and 1000’s of everyday products.

There is no question, we have to start reducing health care costs. We as a society don’t have the resources to support the needs of our aging society without some major changes. More of us will be needing the solutions cannabis can provide. Many current pharmaceuticals come with costly negative side effects that require even further intervention.  Where possible, we must move to use the most effective, cost effective, responsible, least detrimental solutions. Cannabis is the only possible solution on the horizon that offers major change with an affordable price tag.

Cannabis could put as much legal employment and money into the economy as commodities like corn, wheat. soy,  canola or forest products.  You and I could grow any of these but we don’t bother too unless we have a market or a purpose.  We do buy the end products of these crops from retailers like department stores. liquor stores, grocery stores, pharmacies etc.

Marijuana/Cannabis was once a medicine available to our doctors. It was also a cash crop for the fiber. I know of European Immigrants who came to our area early last century who grew Hemp/Cannabis . Everything  was put to use, People made tea or incorporated Marijuana/Cannabis oil into foods including desserts. The leaf of the plant has no THC but has been shown to have huge stores of beneficial nutrients. THC concentrations were much lower but the cannabinoids were likely similar. The Hemp fiber portion was put to use in so many ways. The crops left the soil in very good condition for the next crop.

How can we get back to where this can be grown in gardens by you and all your neighbors.  Farmers can farm it freely. We can go back to using in our everyday life as a vegetable. Millions of trees could be saved every year, keeping our planet greener. Hemp/Cannabis being an annual crop is a very renewable resource and an excellent bio fuel source. Oil is not a renewable resource – we are using something we can not replace for future generations.

It is time to start considering the legacy we as a society are choosing to leave behind. When our actions serve only ourselves today – we serve no one. When our actions serve others – we provide service to everyone today and in the future.

Forward movement is happening as evidenced by the following article and the Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Ricki Lake and PBS broadcasts.

Note that industrial Marijuana contains very little if any THC – YET IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL TO GROW.

First major hemp crop in 60 years planted in Colorado

“Springfield, Colo., farmer Ryan Loflin on Monday planted the nation’s first industrial hemp crop (Cannabis Sativa) in almost 60 years,” The Denver Post reports.

Suck it, prohibition!

The United States banned the food, fuel and fiber in 1937, and we currently import tons of it, mostly from China. Below, Hemp for Victory, a piece of American propaganda during World War II detailing hemp’s rich history, which goes back thousands of years.

Uploaded on Aug 15, 2010 – Comments that followed the video

Produced by the US Government in 1942…Interesting to learn that Dupont Chemical funded the anti- hemp / marijuana effort. This is because they had patents on new synthetic fibers and Hemp had a new machine that would put them out of business if hemp were to be used for clothes. Dupont also sold – and still does many of the chemicals to wood pulp producers… so we continue to cut down forests… when Hemp could save millions of trees, be used as an alternative bio fuel and the US could easily grow enough hemp to eliminate the need for oil… so Big oil does not want hemp legal either. Neither do the drug companies… they can’t patent it. They would rather keep selling you their drugs. By keeping it illegal the lawyers, courts etc… also make a buck. You can only get high from the female flower – nobody has ever died from smoking a joint. Of course the alcohol and tobacco companies would prefer to keep their monopoly as well. So we have all the BIG Corporate players… against legalizing it. Yet if it were legalized – we would solve many issues and have a multi billion dollar hemp economy as it can be used for 1000’s of products. A few other good films to watch are run from the cure & hemp conspiracy – Google it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kybQTt…

I watched helplessly as my father, uncle, mother in law and father in law died very painfully wasting away from cancer. My great grandmother was tortured by Parkinson’s in her later years. I have an epileptic cousin,  whose life is a nightmare due to epilepsy induced by head trauma.  My husband has to use Oxycontin for pain from damage caused by 3 separate back injuries.

From what I have learned – each and every one of them could have been or could be spared so much agony. It angers me greatly, that we the masses have been and continue to be so duped and denied this natural medicine, this natural herb, this natural fiber and this natural oil,

I have 1 mother, I husband,  5 siblings, 4 children, 5 grandchildren. By today’s statistics, 1 in 3 of us will get cancer – that is 5 of us. I want us to have cannabis as a choice for our therapy so we don’t have to experience the nightmare medical choices for treatment currently available, most of which don’t work any better than they did 50 years ago. I want  the cannabis therapies to be legal, accessible and affordable. Our bodies are made to use cannabinoids – our newborns thrive on them in our breast milk. our bodies use them everyday to keep our brains, bodies and immune functions operating well.

Watching all these people in these videos regain their health and ability to function fully as contributing members of society,  removing them from needing so much of the health care budget, shows not only can they benefit, but potentially every single one of us.

From Diabetes to Alzheimer’s, from Parkinson’s to COPD, from MS to Cancer, from Lupus to Crohn’s, almost every imaginable condition including malnutrition and pregnancy would alleviated or improved by Cannabis in one of it’s various consumable forms. There is now the science from all over the world to show this.

Doesn’t It boggle your my mind, that we as a society, can all get brain washed against our best interest by a few with special interest agendas?

How is it that BIG BUSINESS and individual agendas have run our countries and promoted their twisted version of the facts AND WE LET THEM? Especially, when from all appearances, we the masses are THE BIGGEST LOSERS in this whole scenario.

We as North Americans need to support the Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s, Dr Shakefords and all of the other researchers who are bringing old and new information to light.

Our fore-bearers must be rolling in their graves constantly – watching us fall for the Propaganda – HOOK, LINE and SINKER.

My grandfather was a soldier after WWI, My father and uncles fought in WW11. That is a statement that true for many of us. Cannabis Sativa was grown to support the WW11 war effort.

My father got cancer and the cancer eventually killed him after putting him through extended torture. His brothers all but one died of various cancers – they too suffered unmercifully.

Yet when, they, my family  were dying horrible agonizing deaths from cancer – Cannabis was not a choice. The knowledge of it’s efficacy as a cancer cure and a pain medication were purposely hidden from us under the guise of Cannabis being a horrible drug.  A few involved in GOVERNMENTS, LAW and BIG BUSINESS not just the Pharmaceutical Giants were and continue to be complicit in the effort. That too will change as public opinion forces it to.

There are many effective cancer cures –  you can’t patent them. They are natural to this planet and should be available to every inhabitant. Prevention really is the key. Our bodies create aberrant cells every day. We have multiple defense mechanisms that prevent proliferation and cause those cells to die. Cannabinoids play a very large and crucial role in defending our bodies.

Exercise, hydration, nutrition oxygenation, circulation, detoxification, PH balance, adequate quality sleep, a positive attitude, a supportive belief system are tools for a optimally functioning Immune System. Cannabinoids dramatically improve functioning of a compromised immune system. THC plays a huge role in pain control, aberrant brain function, mood and anxiety reduction.

This blog was created to share information on simple choices that can provide the body what it needs to create better health and wellness. It would be irresponsible for me to ignore Cannabis, when it is clearly a is a scientifically supported solution.

One of those choices for some people will be cannabis in various forms. For Cannabis to be available to everyone who is in need, regulation and laws need to change as well as false beliefs. Education and research will pave the way  for change. Thanks to Dr.Sanjay Gupta and his approach, the lines of communication will be expanded on this topic, getting this message into the mainstream.

Research shows us:

“Cell membranes in the body are naturally equipped with these cannabinoid receptors which, when activated by cannabinoids and various other nutritive substances, protect cells against viruses, harmful bacteria, cancer, and other malignancies.  Human breast milk is an abundant source of endocannabinoids, a specific type of neuromodulatory lipid that basically teaches a newborn child how to eat by stimulating the suckling process.”

Through lies and false propaganda – THIS CHOICE HAS BEEN STOLEN FROM US. WE NEED TO CORRECT THAT SITUATION sooner rather than later – we owe it to our for-bearers, ourselves and our children.

Get educated, active and involved – no matter your age, race, color, creed, sex, or religion – no matter who you are, this affects your future choices in so many areas.

Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, stated over a thousand years ago  “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”

We need to start embracing his wisdom and reclaiming this treasure from nature for the use and benefit of everyone. On an individual health basis, good natural nutrient rich food, herbs and spices have been a mainstay and remain so.

The list of diseases and conditions that see beneficial results from cannabis therapy in one of it’s various forms is truly staggering. The most effective results are obtained from the real plant.

We, every mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, niece or nephew who has someone in our life who has or is suffering needlessly are the ones who need to speak up and do our part for change to occur.

Change that is long overdue and much needed. It can come about and it will as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow. 100 years from now this prohibition will be looked back upon much like the Alcohol Prohibition. That was changed because of the masses speaking up, so will this situation.

Pharmaceutical companies have created some synthetic drugs but the efficacy is not there and likely never will be.

The Truth About Kale

By
WebMD Expert Column
Move over Popeye and make room for the “queen of greens,” kale. Gaining in popularity, kale is an amazing vegetable being recognized for its exceptional nutrient richness, health benefits, and delicious flavor.

Eating a variety of natural, unprocessed vegetables can do wonders for your health, but choosing super-nutritious kale on a regular basis may provide significant health benefits, including cancer protection and lowered cholesterol.

curly green kale and beets

Kale, also known as borecole, is one of the healthiest vegetables on the planet. A leafy green, kale is available in curly, ornamental, or dinosaur varieties. It belongs to the Brassica family that includes cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, collards, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts.

What makes kale so exceptional? Here is why it’s a superstar vegetable — and ways to work it into your diet.

Kale is a Nutritional Powerhouse

One cup of chopped kale contains 33 calories and 9% of the daily value of calcium, 206% of vitamin A, 134% of vitamin C, and a whopping 684% of vitamin K. It is also a good source of minerals copper, potassium, iron, manganese, and phosphorus.

Kale’s health benefits are primarily linked to the high concentration and excellent source of antioxidant vitamins A, C, and K — and sulphur-containing phytonutrients.

Carotenoids and flavonoids are the specific types of antioxidants associated with many of the anti-cancer health benefits. Kale is also rich in the eye-health promoting lutein and zeaxanthin compounds.

Beyond antioxidants, the fiber content of cruciferous kale binds bile acids and helps lower blood cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease, especially when kale is cooked instead of raw.

Super-Rich in Vitamin K

Eating a diet rich in the powerful antioxidant vitamin K can reduce the overall risk of developing or dying from cancer, according to a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Vitamin K is abundant in kale but also found in parsley, spinach, collard greens, and animal products such as cheese.

Vitamin K is necessary for a wide variety of bodily functions, including normal blood clotting, antioxidant activity, and bone health.

But too much vitamin K can pose problems for some people. Anyone taking anticoagulants such as warfarin should avoid kale because the high level of vitamin K may interfere with the drugs. Consult your doctor before adding kale to your diet.

Kale might be a powerhouse of nutrients but is also contains oxalates, naturally occurring substances that can interfere with the absorption of calcium. Avoid eating calcium-rich foods like dairy at the same time as kale to prevent any problems.

Eat More Kale

In summer, vegetable choices abound. But during the cooler months, there are fewer in-season choices — with the exception of kale and other dark, leafy greens that thrive in cooler weather.

To find the freshest kale, look for firm, deeply colored leaves with hardy stems. Smaller leaves will be more tender and milder in flavor. Leaves range from dark green to purple to deep red in color.

Store kale, unwashed, in an air-tight zipped plastic bag for up to five days in the refrigerator. ** Use the Fruit and Berry wash I posted earlier this year and it will last much longer**

Easy Ways to Prepare Kale

Quick cooking preserves kale’s nutrients, texture, color, and flavor. Rinse kale, chop it finely, and add it soups, stews, stir-frys, salads, egg dishes, or casseroles. Or top pizzas with kale for added nutritional goodness. Steam kale for five minutes to make it more tender or eat it raw. You can also substitute it for spinach or collard greens in recipes.

Other fast and easy ways to prepare kale:

  • Make a simple salad with a bunch of thinly sliced kale, red pepper, onion, raisins, and your favorite salad dressing.
  • Braise chopped kale and apples, garnish with chopped walnuts, and add a splash of balsamic vinegar.
  • Toss whole-grain pasta with chopped kale, pine nuts, feta cheese, and a little olive oil.
  • Cover and cook a pound of chopped kale with a few garlic cloves and 2 tablespoons olive oil for 5 minutes; season with salt, pepper, and a tablespoon of red wine vinegar.
  • Make kale chips by slicing kale into bite-size pieces, toss with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt, and bake for 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees in the oven.

All vegetables are rich in nutrients and fiber, fat-free, and low in calories and are intended to be the cornerstone of all healthy diets. Toss kale into your grocery cart to enrich the nutritional goodness of your diet and help you eat the recommended 4-5 servings of vegetables every day.

Following is a great recipe for Kale Chips BUT IT ALSO WORKS FOR MANY OTHER VEGTABLES like Carrots Rutabagas, Kohl Rabi, Potatoes, Beets, Mushrooms or whatever you can think of from you garden that dries well and crispy.
If I am going to have the oven on,  I fill all the racks with a variety of veggies and then we have a few days of very tasty, healthy snacks. ENJOY!(Home Garden or Organic veggies are always the tastiest.) Awesome after school or lunch snacks that the kids can help prepare too.
