A Little Something For That Urinary Tract Infection ☺

Urinary Tract Infections can be extremely painful. They often can reoccur unless you determine and remove the cause. I love to bath, I became extremely sensitive to the perfumes and additives. Prescriptions drugs became ineffective.. Colloidal Silver, Lemon and Cranberries were my savior. This looks like a recipe that has the right ingredients to be effective.

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE MAGIC! Ever since I started using Hydrogen Peroxide

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE MAGIC!

Ever since I started using Hydrogen Peroxide to get rid of armpit stains, to clean cookie sheets, as a miracle cleaner in my kitchen and bathroom, and to make my own “oxi clean”…I ALWAYS have at least one bottle of the stuff under my kitchen sink, under my bathroom sink, AND in the laundry room. This stuff is amazingly versatile! But it wasn’t until recently, after doing some IN DEPTH research on the subject, that I came to realize what a “miracle substance” hydrogen peroxide really is! It’s safe, it’s readily available, it’s cheap, and best of all, it WORKS! It works for a LOT of stuff!Hydrogen peroxide should really be called oxygen water, since it is basically the same chemical make up as water but with an extra oxygen atom (H2O2). Because of this it breaks down quickly and harmlessly into oxygen and water.

Some other interesting facts about hydrogen peroxide:

It is found in all living material.
Your white blood cells naturally produce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to fight bacteria and infections.
Fruit and vegetables naturally produce hydrogen peroxide. This is one of the reasons why it is so healthy to eat fresh fruit and vegetables.
It is found in massive dosages in the mother’s first milk, called colostrum, and is transferred to the baby to boost their immune system.
It is found in rain water because some of the H20 in the atmosphere receives an additional oxygen atom from the ozone (O3) and this H2O2 makes plants grow faster.
Next to Apple Cider Vinegar, hydrogen peroxide ranks up there as one of the best household remedies.

Besides the obvious (cleansing wounds), did you know that it is probably the best remedy to dissolve ear wax? Brighten dingy floors? Add natural highlights to your hair? Improve your plants root systems? The list goes on and on!

There are SO many uses for this stuff that I’ve started replacing the cap on the hydrogen peroxide bottle with a sprayer because it’s easier and faster to use that way.

I have compiled a rather impressive list of uses for 3% hydrogen peroxide that I hope will have you as thrilled and bewildered as I was!

Wash vegetables and fruits with hydrogen peroxide to remove dirt and pesticides. Add 1/4 cup of H2O2 to a sink of cold water. After washing, rinse thoroughly with cool water.

In the dishwasher, add 2 oz. to your regular detergent for a sanitizing boost. Also, beef up your regular dish soap by adding roughly 2 ounces of 3% H2O2 to the bottle.

Use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash to freshen breath. It kills the bacteria that causes halitosis. Use a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water.

Use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to make a paste for brushing teeth. Helps with early stages of gingivitis as it kills bacteria. Mixed with salt and baking soda, hydrogen peroxide works as a whitening toothpaste.

Soak your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide between uses to keep it clean and prevent the transfer of germs. This is particularly helpful when you or someone in your family has a cold or the flu.

Clean your cutting board and counter-top. Let everything bubble for a few minutes, then scrub and rinse clean. (I’ve been using it for this a LOT lately!)

Wipe out your refrigerator and dishwasher. Because it’s non-toxic, it’s great for cleaning places that store food and dishes.

Clean your sponges. Soak them for 10 minutes in a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and warm water in a shallow dish. Rinse the sponges thoroughly afterward.

Remove baked-on crud from pots and pans. Combine hydrogen peroxide with enough baking soda to make a paste, then rub onto the dirty pan and let it sit for a while. Come back later with a scrubby sponge and some warm water, and the baked-on stains will lift right off.

Whiten bathtub grout. First dry the tub thoroughly, then spray it liberally with hydrogen peroxide. Let it sit — it may bubble slightly — for a little while, then come back and scrub the grout with an old toothbrush. You may have to repeat the process a few times.

Clean the toilet bowl. Pour half a cup of hydrogen peroxide into the toilet bowl, let stand for 20 minutes, then scrub clean.

Remove stains from clothing, curtains, and tablecloths. Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a pre-treater for stains — just soak the stain for a little while in 3% hydrogen peroxide before tossing into the laundry. You can also add a cup of peroxide to a regular load of whites to boost brightness. It’s a green alternative to bleach, and works just as well.

Brighten dingy floors. Combine half a cup of hydrogen peroxide with one gallon of hot water, then go to town on your flooring. Because it’s so mild, it’s safe for any floor type, and there’s no need to rinse.

Clean kids’ toys and play areas. Hydrogen peroxide is a safe cleaner to use around kids, or anyone with respiratory problems, because it’s not a lung irritant. Spray toys, toy boxes, doorknobs, and anything else your kids touch on a regular basis.

Help out your plants. To ward off fungus, add a little hydrogen peroxide to your spray bottle the next time you’re spritzing plants.

Add natural highlights to your hair. Dilute the hydrogen peroxide so the solution is 50% peroxide and 50% water. Spray the solution on wet hair to create subtle, natural highlights.

According to alternative therapy practitioners, adding half a bottle of hydrogen peroxide to a warm bath can help detoxify the body. Some are skeptical of this claim, but a bath is always a nice way to relax and the addition of hydrogen peroxide will leave you – and the tub – squeaky clean!

Spray a solution of 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide on leftover salad, drain, cover and refrigerate. This will prevent wilting and better preserve your salad.

Sanitize your kids’ lunch boxes/bags.

Dab hydrogen peroxide on pimples or acne to help clear skin.

Hydrogen peroxide helps to sprout seeds for new plantings. Use a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution once a day and spritz the seed every time you re-moisten. You can also use a mixture of 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 32 parts water to improve your plants’ root system.

Remove yellowing from lace curtains or tablecloths. Fill a sink with cold water and a 2 cups of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Soak for at least an hour, rinse in cold water and air dry.

Use it to remove ear wax. Use a solution of 3% with olive or almond oil. Add a couple drops of oil first then H2O2. After a few minutes, tilt head to remove solution and wax.

Helps with foot fungus. Spray a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry. Or try soaking your feet in a peroxide solution to help soften calluses and corns, and disinfect minor cuts.

Spray down the shower with hydrogen peroxide to kill bacteria and viruses.

Use 1 pint of 3% hydrogen peroxide to a gallon of water to clean humidifiers and steamers.

Wash shower curtains with hydrogen peroxide to remove mildew and soap scum. Place curtains in machine with a bath towel and your regular detergent. Add 1 cup full strength 3% hydrogen peroxide to the rinse cycle.

Use for towels that have become musty smelling. 1/2 cup Peroxide and 1/2 cup vinegar let stand for 15 minutes wash as normal. Gets rid of the smell.

Use hydrogen peroxide to control fungi present in aquariums. Don’t worry, it won’t hurt your fish. Use sparingly for this purpose.

De-skunking solution. Combine 1 quart 3% H2O2, 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 teaspoon Dawn dish detergent, 2 quarts warm water.

“Reposters Note”
You can also purchase 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide which has no chemical stabilizers. Mix 1 ounce with 11 ounces of water to get 3% Hydrogen Peroxide.

We have used and continue to use it Daily – It has so many uses.
Gargle with it daily – mouth health improves immensely. Gargle with Hydrogen Peroxide at the first sign of a sore throat and you can avoid colds and flu’s.

It has been used as a very effective cancer cure for years. Tons of info on the net, so be sure to check it out.

Athletes Foot – Soak feet nightly and wash all socks and any footwear worn on bare-feet  – continue until all symptoms are gone for 1 month. Athletes Foot is very difficult to totally get rid of and very contagious of so be persistent.

Earache, I used to get severe earache when I was younger – fill ear canal with Hydrogen Peroxide and let bubble til it stops, then drain, dry ear as well as possible and remove any debris left by the process from the outer ear – do this every few hours and earache will soon be gone if it is due to inflammation in the ear canal.

Once you start using for your home and your health you will never be without Hydrogen Peroxide again. It is so versatile, useful and effective.

Circulatory Problems, Lessened Naturally

See the bottom of this post for information on an all natural product that works like Draino for the Circulatory System – The information and suggestions in this re-posted article that follows are excellent but for many it will not make a big enough difference to eliminate or reduce prescription drugs,  but the solution at the end of the post can.

More than 50% of the population will suffer from Cardiovascular Disease.

It is the #1 cause of death and kills more people annually than the next 6 causes combined(Cancer included).

1 out of 2 people who die of Heart Attack or Stroke have no previous symptoms hence the nickname ‘ The Silent Killer’

Circulation problems occur when the blood flow is limited to parts of the body such as hands, feet, brain, heart, and lungs. Plaque builds up in our arteries and causes the restriction of blood flow and hardening of the arterial walls. Some of the diseases that can be caused by this include hypertension, stroke, varicose veins, Raynaud’s phenomenon, blood clots, kidney disease, heart disease, and peripheral artery disease.

Poor blood circulation can impact the entire body, including:

  • Effects upon the brain – poor blood circulation can impact the brain causing fatigue, dizziness, memory loss, and frequent and unexplained headaches.
  • Effects upon the heart – poor blood circulation can have an impact on the heart, causing inability to perform simple aerobic activities like climbing stairs without breathlessness; high blood pressure and cholesterol, and chest pain can be other symptoms. Heart attack and stroke are major risks of poor circulation that remains untreated.
  • Effects upon the liver – symptoms of poor blood circulation in the liver can include lack of appetite or unexplained weight loss, and changes in skin tone.
  • Effects upon the kidneys – poor circulation to the kidneys are typically the result when there is swelling of the hands, feet and ankles. Other symptoms can include fatigue, altered heart rate and rise in blood pressure.
  • Effects upon the limbs – with poor circulation, cramps in the limbs, numbness and varicose veins can appear as symptoms.

Symptoms include :

  • Numbness, tingling, or loss of sensation in extremities
  • Cold hands, feet, or ears
  • Fatigue
  • Hair loss
  • Dizziness
  • Dry and/or Itchy Skin
  • Edema
  • Varicose veins
  • Leg or foot ulcerations
  • Headaches
  • Muscle cramps
  • Dandruff
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Sluggish Memory

Medical problems that can cause contribute to poor circulation include smoking, anxiety, diabetes, high cholesterol, weight gain, high blood pressure, heart problems, anemia, asthma, food allergies, bronchitis, pneumonia, emphysema, eating disorders, and many others. A doctor will need to determine the cause before administering treatment.

Mild cases can be improved with aerobic exercise and diet. A person should exercise regularly and eat a low-fat high-fiber diet. If the person has mobility problems due to a stroke or something similar regular assisted range of motion exercises will help.

Foods that improve circulation are fruits, especially those rich in Vitamin C and lycopene, think citrus, watermelon, and tomatoes, nuts, which are rich in Vitamin B3, garlic, and avoiding fatty and sugary foods.

Diet and exercise should be used at a pace you are comfortable with, in severe cases they should be used in conjunction with your doctor’s plan and advice. Inform your doctor of any changes you are making to diet and exercise.

3 Ingredients To Stop Feeding You and Your Kids

3 Ingredients To Stop Feeding You and Your Kids

By Scott Morefield Guest Writer for Wake Up World

High-Fructose-Corn-Syrup

No matter how you slice it – choosing the right foods to feed your family is tough! Not only are kids and parents inundated with commercials and peer pressure to eat the baddies everyone knows about, the candy bars, sodas, snack cakes, and candy that kids seem to pick up for ‘free’ at every ‘kid’ activity they go to, but the things that people typically do NOT know about can be just as or even more harmful. While we parents should certainly watch what’s on the front label of the foods our kids eat, it’s also important to pay attention to the ingredient list on the back. A front label might say ‘all natural,’ or ‘packed with vitamins and minerals,’ but that doesn’t mean it isn’t filled with toxic and potentially harmful ingredients. It’s up to us to educate ourselves and vote with our dollars – if enough people do, manufacturers will be forced to listen.

These three ingredients are a great place to start:

1.) High Fructose Corn Syrup

It’s hard to find a processed food without High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), although it’s easier than it used to be.

The Corn Growers Association and other special interest groups that have a direct monetary stake in the continuance of turning genetically modified corn into a sweetener that populates seemingly every product on every grocery store aisle are constantly insisting that HFCS is the same as sugar or any other sweetener – except that it’s not. According to Dr. Joseph Mercola (Mercola.com),

Part of what makes HFCS such an unhealthy product is that it is metabolized to fat in your body far more rapidly than any other sugar, and, because most fructose is consumed in liquid form, its negative metabolic effects are significantly magnified.

HFCS has been linked to diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. Additionally, HFCS is made from genetically modified corn, which brings on a host of other issues.

How to avoid it – Don’t get me wrong – sugar is bad for you, period, and replacing HFCS with regular sugar isn’t the ‘answer’ either, although if you’re going to eat one or the other I would certainly go with organic non-GMO sugar, honey, or stevia as a sweetener over anything with HFCS in it. The best way to avoid HFCS altogether is to check out the labels of everything you buy. If it’s on there, put it back. The good news is, more and more companies are aware of the growing segment of the public that doesn’t want to consume HFCS. Look for more and more boxes and labels that explicitly advertise the absence of HFCS. While it’s best to avoid most processed foods altogether, avoiding HFCS and other dangerous ingredients is certainly a step in the right direction.
2.) Aspartame

Aspartame (NutraSweet, Spoonful, Equal-Measure, and Equal) is 180 times sweeter than sugar. It’s composed of three primary ingredients – phenylalanine (50 percent), aspartic acid (40 percent), and methanol (wood alcohol – 10 percent). Discovered accidentally when a G.D. Searle chemist testing an anti-ulcer drug licked his finger after spilling one of the chemicals he was using, aspartame’s road to FDA approval is more shady than Barak Obama’s birth certificate.

The problem is not so much the amino acids in aspartame, but the ratios and chemical manipulation involved, which causes the body to break them down into free amino acids. Unable to recognize them in that form, it tries to metabolize them anyway, causing the central nervous system to flood and (potentially) causing brain neurons to fire excessively. This condition, called ‘excitotoxicity,’ can cause a whole host of physical and neurological problems. Additionally, the menthol in aspartame, having no natural binder (in nature, menthol is bound to pectin), turns into cancer-causing formaldehyde in the body.

There is so much more to the aspartame story – one that is well worth researching and reading about yourself. Your health and the health of your children could depend on it!

Sadly, in addition to the packet sweeteners at most restaurant tables, aspartame is in so many products, from chewing gum (we had to give up most of our favorite gums – turns out that uncanny ‘long-lasting’ flavor comes with a price!) to yogurts, dessert mixes, gelatins, and lots of ‘sugar-free’ desserts. As always, it’s important to check the labels.

85 Percent of Major Brands of Chewing Gum Still Contain Aspartame and Sucralose
3.) Monosodium Glutamate

Monosodium glutamate (MSG), another excitotoxin added by the ‘big-food’ manufacturers as a ‘flavor-enhancer’ designed to mask the lack of ‘real’ ingredients in processed food, has been linked to brain damage, migraines, ADD, ADHD, obesity, and other health issues. MSG is well known for its prevalence in Chinese food, but it’s also found in certain processed soups, snack foods, and even infant formula and baby food! MSG can be tough to avoid because the ingredient labels aren’t always clear. Here’s a great resource to help educate parents on the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ to avoid MSG.

Those are three great first steps on the road to better nutrition. At first it can be discouraging to find these ingredients in so many things you once purchased regularly, but the effort to avoid them is well worth it. It’s one thing to make our kids ‘eat their veggies,’ but that’s only part of the picture. If they are also eating a load of potentially harmful empty-calories, their little bodies are going to be so busy reversing the effects of a system overloaded with garbage that they won’t be as effective at fighting off disease. No wonder kids, especially during Fall and Winter, seem to be constantly finishing or starting runs of antibiotics! As the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates once said,

Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.

Feed your kids well, and they’ll stay well more often!

8 Natural Herbicides, Pest Control & Fertilizers courtesy of Your Kitchen

8 Natural Herbicides, Pest Control & Fertilizers courtesy of Your Kitchen

8 Items in your kitchen that will make you a better gardener

Did you know that you can use orange peels to kill ants? Or how about Epsom salt to grow healthier tomatoes? You are sitting on a gold mine of resources in your kitchen that can be re-purposed or recycled to benefit your garden. The best part is that you are eliminating the use of dangerous chemicals, while saving money, and not harming the environment.

1. Natural Pest Control

Cayenne Pepper or red chili pepper; if you are using whole peppers combine a half cup chopped peppers and two cups of water in a blender and pour the liquid into a spray bottle, add a tbsp. of liquid soap to help the spray “stick” to the plants. If you are using the powder form of pepper, substitute 2 tbsp for the half cup. Remember that this is not a selective pesticide, meaning it can harm beneficial insects too, so be sure and only use it if you have a major problem.

2. Japanese Beetle Trap

This is a simple one. All you’ll need is a bucket, a brick, and a can of fruit cocktail. Open the fruit cocktail and let it set on the window seal for a few days to ferment. Put the brick in the bucket and place the fruit cocktail on the brick. Fill the bucket with water up to the rim of the fruit cocktail can. Set the bucket near the problem area, the beetles will fly in to get the fruit cocktail and drown in the bucket.

3.  Natural Herbicide

Vinegar is a great substitute for the toxic and persistent glyphosate. Add a little dish soap with pure vinegar in a spray bottle and apply during the heat of the day. If you find that your kitchen vinegar just won’t cut the tough weeds, you can purchase a horticultural grade vinegar with a higher concentration of acetic acid and apply it the same way.

4. Natural Fertilizer #1

Don’t put down that vinegar just yet. If your acid loving plants, like azaleas or gardenias are looking a little yellow, mix 2 tbsp of vinegar to 1 quart of water and pour at the base of the plant. Repeating this process every two weeks should turn that yellow to green.

5. Ant Killer #1

Don’t spray or pour those broad spectrum pesticides all over the place, these are particularly persistent and harmful to humans and animals, as well as all insects, beneficial and not. Simply boil some water and dump on the mound, the ants die instantly. Be sure to boil enough water so you can keep pouring until you reach the queen.

6. Ant Killer #2

Don’t put those orange peels in the compost pile just yet. Throw equal parts orange peels and water into the blender and puree. Voila, instant ant killer, that won’t kill you.

7. Natural Fertilizer #2

Epsom salt is a natural mineral, discovered in the well water of Epsom, England, and has been used for hundreds of years. It is magnesium sulfate which stimulates root growth in plants, especially tomatoes. Add a teaspoon to the hole when planting and presto, super tomatoes. The magnesium is critical for seed germination and the production of chlorophyll, fruit, and nuts. Magnesium helps strengthen cell walls and improves plants’ uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur. As an added bonus, a little pinch will also deter squirrels from digging up bulbs in your flower garden.

8. Slug and snail deterrent

Don’t dump out that last bit of coffee that you didn’t finish, throw it in a spray bottle and spray your plants to naturally deter slugs and snails. Also, you can make a slug “fence” around the garden with the grounds. This is a double bonus because as the coffee grounds deter slugs, they are also a great addition to soil and earthworms love them!

Greek yogurt manufacturing produces millions of pounds of (toxic) acid whey waste every year, and no one knows what to do with it.

From Modern Farmer’s fascinating story about how to deal with the whey problem:

“For every three or four ounces of milk, Chobani and other companies can produce only one ounce of creamy Greek yogurt. The rest becomes acid whey. It’s a thin, runny waste product that can’t simply be dumped. Not only would that be illegal, but whey decomposition is toxic to the natural environment, robbing oxygen from streams and rivers. That could turn a waterway into what one expert calls a ‘dead sea,’ destroying aquatic life over potentially large areas. Spills of cheese whey, a cousin of Greek yogurt whey, have killed tens of thousands of fish around the country in recent years.”

2. Not-from-concentrate orange juice is processed with “flavor packs” to artificially ensure that each bottle tastes exactly the same.

Not-from-concentrate orange juice is processed with "flavor packs" to artificially ensure that each bottle tastes exactly the same.

No matter what time of year it is and which oranges the juice came from, big beverage companies make their products perfectly consistent by mixing the juice with carefully calibrated, brand-specific orange flavorings. These mixtures are added to replace the natural flavors lost when juice is chemically stripped of oxygen (“deaerated”) so that it can be kept in storage tanks for more than a year (!) without oxidizing.

Because the added flavor is technically derived from orange oil and extract, it doesn’t need to be specifically listed in the ingredients. Read more here.

Most commercial milk is made by combining, heating, homogenizing, and repackaging the milk of hundreds of cows.

Milk gets separated by huge industrial centrifuges into components (fat, protein, and other solids and liquids). Those milk parts are then recombined in various proportions to make perfectly uniform whole, low-fat, and skim milks.

Read more about the process — and how raw milk (aka the kind that comes straight from cows) became a thing of the past — in this L.A. Times article.

6. Many canned soups are flavored with MSG, even when they claim they aren’t.

Many canned soups are flavored with MSG, even when they claim they aren't.

The additive gives soups a meat-like flavor that helps make up for canning-induced blandness and less salt (many brands have reduced their use of salt thanks to nutrition concerns about high sodium levels).

MSG isn’t necessarily bad for you, but soup makers sneakily get around admitting that they use it by referring to it as “naturally occurring” (because it’s refined from vegetable and yeast proteins) and listing it in the ingredients as “yeast extract” or “hydrolyzed protein.” An actual ad war broke out in 2008 because Campbell’s and Progresso were so worried that customers wouldn’t buy soup they knew contained MSG.

7. The canning process for soup is so violent that companies grow huge, super-tough carrots for the soup so they won’t disintegrate.

That’s just some dude with a random huge carrot, but a former Campbell’s food scientist described the industrial-strength carrots as “like tree limbs — they’re like baseball bats.”

DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE
MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES

You will see ***( I would use coconut oil, it is more nourishing for the skin and hair)

My investigations show that coconut oil is the one most nourishing of the oils and is absorbed by the body very easily. Our body temperature is warm enough to keep the oil liquid for easy absorption.

If you already have pure virgin olive oil or sunflower oil in your home – do use that rather than delaying trying the masks until you can purchase coconut oil.

If you are not yet using coconut oil search coconut oil, you will find numerous articles, posted on this blog .

Enjoy these wonderful masks!

My personal favorite solution for removing dead skin cells, reducing lines and wrinkles, detoxification and oxygenation of the skin is a total body solution. As we age not only does aging show on our face but all of our skin.

Natural ultrasound  is used to clean our precious jewelry and keep it looking it’s best  Natural Ultrasound does the same for the skin and the underlying connective tissue by massaging and stimulating at a cellular level as well deep cleaning the skin surface and pores. Detoxifying, rehydrating,  massaging and oxygenating our skin while providing improved circulation plumps up the skin naturally. The enhanced circulation/oxygenation and the deep pore cleansing give the skin that dewy youthful glow.

I was introduced to the Oxygen Spa as a wellness tool, only to find out that in Asia it is a very popular spa treatment used to return youthfulness to the skin or to maintain a youthful appearance. After having an extremely rejuvenating experience during my first Oxygen Spa Session, I decided to attend a hydrotherapy conference in Taiwan to  learn more from doctors and hydrotherapy experts.

The Oxygen Spa  is basically like having a mini physiotherapy unit at your disposal in your own home. All you need is a bath tub and water. It provides full body Hydrotherapy that incorporates Hydro-massage, Hydro-accupressure, Hydro-ultrasound, Far-infrared Oxygen & Ozone therapy and full body Detoxification. It also creates internal warming so provides cardiovascular exercise benefits too. Many people notice decreases in cellulite and improved over all body toning.

The Oxygen Spa is also the best stress reduction tool – just imagine millions of oxygen bubbles massaging all of the stress away. It is such an exquisite experience with the added benefit of not having to lose that super relaxed feeling by getting dressed and having to go back out into the world.

The Hydrotherapy Conference attendees appeared to be a rather youthful group both in appearance but also in movement which surprised me. As we age, that suppleness of movement we see in the young slowly dissipates unless we pursue a consistent total body exercise regimen like yoga.  During the hydrotherapy training  by leading doctors and hydrotherapy experts, they provided insight about why the Oxygen Spa had been adopted as a very significant tool in rehab facilities and even in emergency rooms such as Taipei Hospital.

Soon the Spa industry in Asia caught on. Numerous health issues were being successfully addressed but along with feeling better, Oxygen Spa users were noticeably looking and feeling more youthful – an unanticipated side-effect.

At the conference, I was befriended by 3 young Asian Americans who were Oxygen Spa devotees. I was later shocked to find out all 3 ladies had children who were in their late 20s and early 30s and my new friends were 49 – 54 years old.  But they were not alone, I met women and  men not only from Asia but from Europe, Middle East, Philippines, Africa and Australia who were using the Oxygen Spa as their fountain of youth and vibrancy. That they were also experiencing unparalleled good health as a by-product.

They were of the opinion that when you feel good, you look your best, and when you look your best, you feel good. They had all been introduced to the Oxygen Spa years earlier in its infancy and enjoyed using it so much over time they had been able to stay looking and feeling much younger than their peers.

So what is this Oxygen Spa  – Watch the video below and if you want to learn even more check out homespaedmonton.com. My name is Deb St.Jean  and should you want to contact me – you can do so via the contact form, or the comments section of this blog. (My apologies – the website is a bit out of date and is in the middle of being revamped)

I was an adult acne sufferer with horrible skin showing the wear and tear of aging and 20+ years of severe adult acne. Due to a very physically active life, I had 3 crushed vertebra, carpal tunnel, rotator cuff, hip, knee and ankle injuries. The Oxygen Spa provided amazing pain relief and gave me back a flexibility I had not experienced since crushing my vertebra in my teens.

Not long after I bought my Oxygen Spa and was able to use it consistently, long time friends and co-workers started complimenting ME – on how great MY skin looked. I have been blemish free for over 5 years now and often have people who meet compliment me on my skin. These compliments still take me by surprise as most of my life I had skin that had to be buried under layers and layers of make-up to cover the acne and the scaring. Now, in my late 50’s, I wear NO MAKE-UP and GET COMPLIMENTS ON MY GREAT SKIN.

I ordered my Oxygen Spa for the pain reduction and improved flexibility – I had no idea that it would do wonders for my skin, my energy levels or give the overall sense of wellness I experience today. Watch the video, and incorporate some of what the Oxygen Spa provides to enhance the benefits of the masks detailed earlier in this post. If you want the real thing, the Oxygen Spa contact me and I will help make that happen for you.

I freely admit, I am addicted to my Oxygen Spa and will never be without it for the rest of my life. It is as important to me as the air I breathe, the water I drink and the food I eat.  I dreaded aging, yet comparatively, I now feel and look better than anything I could have anticipated 10 years ago.

The Essential Oils and the Mineral Salts enhance the effectiveness and the experience. They are integral to obtaining the fullest benefit that the Oxygen Spa can bestow. Aroma and Essential oil/Mineral salt therapy have long been used with hydrotherapy as they complement and enhance the effectiveness of each other, beyond what either could do alone.

The Oxygen Spa is my passion so my apologies for being so long-winded ( you will note if you look at my other posts this is not typical) but the change the Oxygen Spa has brought to my skin and my life is so huge I wish I could give every home one.

Here is that promised video.

Top 10 Cancer Causing Foods

The 10 most cancer causing foods

April 18, 2013 at 2:33 pm

Top 10 most unhealthy, cancer-causing foods – never eat these again!

The statement “everything causes cancer” has become a popular hyperbole, and one that some people use as rhetorical fodder to excuse their own dietary and lifestyle failures, particularly as they pertain to cancer risk. But the truth of the matter is that many common food items have, indeed, been scientifically shown to increase cancer risk, and some of them substantially. Here are 10 of the most unhealthy, cancer-causing foods that you should never eat again:

1) Genetically-modified organisms (GMOs). It goes without saying that GMOs have no legitimate place in any cancer-free diet, especially now that both GMOs and the chemicals used to grow them have been shown to cause rapid tumor growth. But GMOs are everywhere, including in most food derivatives made from conventional corn, soybeans, and canola. However, you can avoid them by sticking with certified organic, certified non-GMO verified, and locally-grown foods that are produced naturally without biotechnology.

2) Processed meats. Most processed meat products, including lunch meats, bacon, sausage, and hot dogs, contain chemical preservatives that make them appear fresh and appealing, but that can also cause cancer. Both sodium nitrite and sodium nitrate have been linked to significantly increasing the risk of colon and other forms of cancer, so be sure to choose only uncured meat products made without nitrates, and preferably from grass-fed sources.

3) Microwave popcorn. They might be convenient, but those bags of microwave popcorn are lined with chemicals that are linked to causing not only infertility but also liver, testicular, and pancreatic cancers. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizes the perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in microwave popcorn bag linings as “likely” carcinogenic, and several independent studies have linked the chemical to causing tumors. Similarly, the diacetyl chemical used in the popcorn itself is linked to causing both lung damage and cancer.

4) Soda pop. Like processed meats, soda pop has been shown to cause cancer as well. Loaded with sugar, food chemicals, and colorings, soda pop acidifies the body and literally feeds cancer cells. Common soda pop chemicals like caramel color and its derivative 4-methylimidazole (4-MI) have also specifically been linked to causing cancer.

5) ‘Diet’ foods, beverages. Even worse than conventional sugar-sweetened soda pop, though, is “diet” soda pop and various other diet beverages and foods. A recent scientific review issued by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) of more than 20 separate research studies found that aspartame, one of the most common artificial sweeteners, causes a range of illnesses including birth defects and cancer. Sucralose (Splenda), saccharin and various other artificial sweeteners have also been linked to causing cancer.

6) Refined ‘white’ flours. Refined flour is a common ingredient in processed foods, but its excess carbohydrate content is a serious cause for concern. A study published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Mile Markers, and Prevention found that regular consumption of refined carbohydrates was linked to a 220 percent increase in breast cancer among women. High-glycemic foods in general have also been shown to rapidly raise blood sugar levels in the body, which directly feeds cancer cell growth and spread.

7) Refined sugars. The same goes for refined sugars, which tend to rapidly spike insulin levels and feed the growth of cancer cells. Fructose-rich sweeteners like high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) are particularly offensive, as cancer cells have been shown to quickly and easily metabolize them in order to proliferate. And since cookies, cakes, pies, sodas, juices, sauces, cereals, and many other popular, mostly processed, food items are loaded with HFCS and other refined sugars, this helps explain why cancer rates are on the rise these days.

8) Conventional apples, grapes, and other ‘dirty’ fruits. Many people think they are eating healthy when they buy apples, grapes, or strawberries from the store. But unless these fruits are organic or verified to be pesticide-free, they could be a major cancer risk. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) found that up to 98 percent of all conventional produce, and particularly the type found on its “dirty” fruits list, is contaminated with cancer-causing pesticides.

9) Farmed salmon. Farmed salmon is another high-risk cancer food, according to Dr. David Carpenter, Director of the Institute for Health and the Environment at the University of Albany. According to his assessment, farmed salmon not only lacks vitamin D, but it is often contaminated with carcinogenic chemicals, PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), flame retardants, pesticides, and antibiotics.

10) Hydrogenated oils. They are commonly used to preserve processed foods and keep them shelf-stable. But hydrogenated oils alter the structure and flexibility of cell membranes throughout the body, which can lead to a host of debilitating diseases such as cancer. Some manufacturers are phasing out the use of hydrogenated oils and replacing them with palm oil and other safer alternatives, but trans fats are still widely used in processed foods.

***** See this link for cleaning fruit, berries and produce – anything that is grown above ground and would be sprayed with herbicides, pesticides or ripening inhibitors.  If I have a used lemon rind kicking around I slice it very thinly, put it in a mesh bag and add it to the vinegar water. Lemon is known to be great as a detox and keeps fruits and veggies from oxidizing (eg. sliced apples stay white a lot longer.)

Sounds impossible in today’s world to live a healthy lifestyle doesn’t it But it is NOT.

Grow a garden, if you have the space plant raspberries, strawberries, a couple of apple trees. Eat what you grow – even small patios can provide all of your lettuce and tomatoes. Use hanging planters for strawberries. Gardening is an excellent stress reduction tool too.

If you love popcorn, buy a popcorn popper – use real butter and sea salt – YUM and quick

Cook meals from scratch – a bit of planning while shopping and storing groceries can make a huge difference in what you eat and how long fresh produce will last.  Get rid of the sodas and any prepared drinks, make fresh lemon juice or detox waters, make a pot of tea or coffee. Use real cream or milk if you must, sweeten with honey, real maple syrup, agave, stevia or monk fruit.

Meal Prep used to be a staple that involved the whole family and dinner was a social gathering where the days events were shared. Memories were made and family bonds solidified. Turn off all electronics and enjoy each other.

Scientific studies have proven that food that is blessed prior to consumption has increased nutritional value. Take 2 seconds thank whomever – God – The Planet – The Garden- The Universe and ask that the food be blessed.  No matter what the food is – by blessing it you just made it better for your body. Sounds crazy but it works!

Cancer was the bane of our families – I have learned a lot – much of it was unlearning.

Our homes are one of the most polluted places on the planet, natural cleaners work, oxygen is really good for you as is clean water and, salt is important in a natural unprocessed form.

Get lots of Sunshine – Natural Vitamin D3 is the best, drink lots of water, get a full nights sleep, have some fun, take walks, laugh, get some aerobic exercise.  Connect with nature and the world. Give hugs and smiles.  Take a really good liquid vitamin mineral supplement. (link to my fav, Daily Complete) http://deb.awarenesslife.com/index.cfm?action=details&detail=complete

Life is a participation sport – we choose to prioritize busyness over quality – you can choose to tweak certain parts of your life. I allocated certain Saturdays or weekday evening to preparing and freezing casseroles etc.  Everybody had a job – we would prepare 5 Lasagnas or 2 huge pots of stew, roast a couple of chickens etc. Then on the days that there was soccer, hockey, baseball, basketball, dance, karate etc.  Nice fresh bead, a colorful salad and a pre-prepared main course and we had a dinner that was delicious and good for us.

Having a son whose behavior was extremely affected by additives  and certain foods forced us to eat differently but looking back – it turned out to be a very positive lifestyle change with huge benefits. We still grow a huge garden  – it is work but what a sense of  independence and accomplishment. The taste difference alone is worth it.  A few minutes of weeding a day, away from the phone and TV brings relaxation and peace to the craziness. The weeds wait for you – I enjoy a few minutes early in the morning when the air is so fresh and clean or in the evening.

Kids have a lot of activities these days but not much in the way of chores. Helping grow a garden and care for a yard are great chores that build skills and allow them to feel the pride of accomplishment. Promote working barefoot as long as your yard is safe – walking barefoot on natural surfaces is very good for the feet and the spine. Fresh air is a real tonic.

Community gardens that allow you to grow your own produce can be found in most major cities these days.

Cancer is not a death sentence it is a wake up call – I learned so much from reading the following book.

The success rate for his cancer patients is unparalleled –  but his wisdom applies to living the best life for every one of us.

Caffeine – Which Drinks Contain The Most Caffeine Content

Caffeine – Which Drinks Contain The Most Caffeine Content

Caffeine Content

You may be surprised by some of the numbers as to the amount of caffeine various drinks contain. This poster has all the facts about caffeine, the amounts in different teas, various coffees, many types of soda and energy drinks.. A little caffeine is fine for the average person, but those with high blood pressure and certain heart problems or problems sleeping may wish to control the amount they get!

Adrenal exhaustion is becoming a hot topic of concern especially with the under 21 demographic. The energy drink craze may not just be affecting how some of us get  our caffeine fix, it seems to be leading many young people away from traditional natural drinks. Energy drinks have been making headlines due to concerns over caffeine and sugar content. For those used to sodas as a preferred beverage, energy drinks are most similar. Where will this lead in the already daunting health challenges in the foreseeable future, in our already sugar overloaded North American diet. This is a question sure to plague our medical system.

Of Note***

1) Replacing your morning coffee with Black Tea will also boost your immune system.

2) If you are a coffee drinker do not stop cold turkey – your body has come to rely on the caffeine and will very possibly cause severe headaches and extreme tiredness for a few days. – I only have a couple of cups a day, I replaced coffee with fresh lemon during a very hot spell last summer and got a very rude surprise.
